People waited and now they finally have the second of this two parter….
Number 12: Arrieta The Wild From Tales Of The Abyss
Alluring Quality 7/10: The whole gothic lolita thing has been done to death, but Arietta brings to the table one of the more unique hair colours I’ve seen (how often do you see anime girls with highlights in their hair), leg length boots (all the better to stomp you with), boot straps, a skirt that’s clearly way to short for her (you can see her holding it down in the picture, and a surprisingly commanding voice for someone so sad looking. If it wasn’t for her odd looking eyebrows I’d probably give her a bit higher than a 7.
Callousness 5/10: The number of times Arietta says “Die” in the game is almost uncountable. Make no mistake, she wants you dead and she’s going to use everything in her power to make it happen. See during the game Jade killed the Liger Queen, which Arietta saw as a mother figure, and now she wants revenge against her rival Anise (from the previous ranking). Despite that though Arietta can actually be seen helping you a couple times, and under better circumstances she could have been an ally, or maybe even a guest party member. Arietta may be a little bitch, but she’s also one of the games biggest victims.
Power 9/10: HOLY CRAP! What is this girl?! Try this, go play the game on and when you get to the first fight with her, make sure you set the battle settings to Hard…..now watch as she takes one damage from all your attacks and proceeds to mop the floor with you. If you last long enough just watching her shrug off all your attacks, she’ll probably crush you with her Big Bang (apparently she’s got the power of anti-matter at her disposal) attack. She also has control over some animal friends who will run interference for her while she uses high level spells way beyond your range. Seriously, I think she has stronger magic than Jade Curtiss the Necromancer himself. Luke and Co regret the day they made an enemy of this wild girl.
Lolidom 8/10: Arietta slaughters an entire regiment of troops at one point and I believe I heard her insult me when I lost to her once (very hot). She also doesn’t let up in her attacks and is downright condescending in the way she talks to Luke and Co. My kind of girl.
Loliness 9/10: Look at her. Gothic Lolita, Dead stuffed animal, she even get’s rosy cheeks and looks all frazzled when she uses her Hi Ougi attack. No contest, this girls Loli.
Overall 36/10: Arietta is one of my all time favourite game enemies. There’s little that can compare to a life and death struggle with a loli that wants to grind you into dust, and it helps when she’s got a good character design too. I really wish they had let her join the party though, as she’s a surprisingly sympathetic character, but like I said before, make no mistake, this girl is an asskicking crotch stomping loli, and she ties for Number 12 with her eternal rival Anise Tatlin.
