I thought this was really neat when I was watching Roots of Ambition the other night. It seems Sunrise actually went out of it’s way to recreate the shots from the Sunsa Victory Celebration that we see in real time in the Roots of Ambition OVA for the trial scene in Pailsen Files episode 1, using modern Computer Drawn Graphics. I took some photograph comparisons for fun that people who are following Pailsen Files can look overThe Roots Of Ambition ones are on top followed by the comparsion shot from Pailsen Files on the bottom of each.

It’s pretty much shot for shot, but a lot of things were obviously touched up with the strides in animation that have been made since 1988. It’s like taking a PC game you played on the lowest possible settings and then kicking it up to high. That’s how I would best describe it.

Directed at #4, the new cg comparison someone who looks like skeletor with a black hood. Anyways, I remember there’s only about 12 episodes of the Pailsen Files, so I do like that they pay attention to as much detail. Of course, it’s still good whatever the setting is
I need to watch Palisen files, as that OVA is one of my favourite things ever. But does anyone think the characters look far more alive in the old hand-drawn versions?
