Now Canada has had it’s questionable political campaign TV spots.  I think everyone remembers the old Progressive Conservative Parties shot at Jean Chretien for what they saw as broken campaign promises that was called “Jean Chretien’s Red Book Boogie” and was played up like a corny CD Album advertisement.  How about Stockwell Day’s old spots that tried desperately to play him up as some sort of down home family values sort of guy and featured him ice skating on a lake with his wife and kids when to our horror the camera zoomed in right under his legs.  Well step aside Canada because once again the U.S has beaten you in showmanship.  Why do I say this….well let’s just say I’ve just witnessed what may be the corniest, cheesiest most desperate plea for votes in the history of modern national level politics.  And here it is:

Two Great Licenses, One Company And One Hell Of A Steal

So by now many probably know about the whole Gundam 00 and Gurren Lagann licensing by Bandai Entertainment, and if not then they do now.    If you go here you can see a page with two links to “Something Awesome” and “Something Incredible”, but unfortunately nothing to “Something Awful”.  Great website that last one by the way.  Anyways, Something Awesome takes you to the information on Gundam 00’s license and Something Incredible takes you to Gurren Laganns.  I find the later particularly amusing because this is the second time ADV has had a popular series stolen out from under them, the last being Funimations quick move to snatch up the Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid license.  This one was arguably even bolder though as ADV had already announced the license, then did nothing and now it’s in the hands of Bandai Entertainment.  Of course Gundam 00 was a given and it was only a matter of time before it made it to North America, but the latter one is hilarious.

Macross Frontier Episode 02 (Hard Chase)

The Shit Hits The Fan In A Big Way

Well here I go finally with my first real summary of a Macross Frontier episode.  I should mention it’s kind of hard to find appropriate pictures from the episodes because everything pretty much always looks amazing and thus any picture just sort of lacks context outside of it being in a given animation sequence.  What I’m trying to say I guess is that there’s no definitive screenshot you can find to convey a scene because it just doesn’t work outside of the animation sequence.  That’s part of the key to Macross, that the animation, music and artwork are woven together to create something greater than the sum of their parts.  A screenshot just doesn’t cut it for this series, but nonetheless I will try.

My Official Thoughts On The Code Geass R2 Episode 03 Leak

Meh….if it airs it airs, if it doesn’t it doesn’t.  If it’s changed it’s changed if it isn’t it isn’t.  Whatever comes we’ll find out then.  Until that point I trust official information over John Q. Spammer on 2ch.  Sunrise isn’t the one creating the drama though, it’s 2ch and commentators on the whole series of events.  As far as I know they haven’t even said boo yet, but then again I bet they take a lot of crap for it anyway because of one disgruntled employee since this is just the kind of thing some people will take to bash the hell out of them.  Sucks to be Sunrise these days, you just can’t catch a break.

That’s pretty much all I have to say about this right now.

Smash Bros. Brawl Thoughts

As I said I would, here are some of my thoughts on Smash Bros Brawl now that I’ve had some serious experience with the game.

Code Geass R2 Episode 02 (Japan Independence Plan)

Yeah How’s That Plan Working Out By The Way? Good? No? Iraq War Bad? Gulp…..

Well I basically had two choices, I could either do Macross Frontier episode 02 or I could do Code Geass R2 episode 02 tonight.  It soon came to feel urgent that I cover Code Geass R2 because the discussion on the internet concerning it couldn’t be much more low brow or flamebaitish right now if 4chan joined the fray in it’s entirety.  Okay I exaggerate, but consider the flashpoint (there’s always one of them every time I try to blog a series I enjoy I swear it.  You know what though, it wouldn’t be as fun without one though I’m sure) this time which for me was Darkmirage’s episode 02 article where he again manages to whine about Gundam 00 like it killed his family or something and reveals his true intentions for blogging Code Geass.  Here’s someone who’s sanity (or at least credibility) I question now that he thinks it’s a great idea to outsource Gundam to Kyoani and is watching Code Geass R2 like he did with Gundam 00 again strictly to try and find serious political commentary instead of his local parliament channel.  That’s a blind pander if ever I heard one as well as a deliberate excuse/set up to start whining about Code Geass R2 in the future when it of course doesn’t deliver on the real world politics front, because it’s what again folks?  An anime made for entertainment and fictional universe relevant discussion.  INCONCEIVABLE!  Time out coming next paragraph by the way.  Skip it if you want, I don’t mind.
