Since there’s spoilers right at the bottom I’m keeping all the details inside. Read on if you dare or just wait the 3 weeks. The choice is yours. Also here to offset the usual Gundam the Gundaming by myself, special guest commentator Deathkillz.
Clockwise From Top Left:
Andrei Smirnov: Son of Sergei Smirnov, the Wild Bear of Russia. Rank is 2nd Lieutenant. (VA: Tetsu Shiratori – Lloyd Asplund from Code Geass)
Kaioshin: Looks like he could be a pretty cool guy….even if his character design is a little generic. Like the Arrows outfit so far though. Can’t imagine Llloyd’s voice coming out of this guy, but I’m betting that Tetsu Shiratori can do more then one voice. We’ll have to wait and see.
Deathie: Son of Sergei huh, I hope he can live up to his father’s expectations but like Kaio said…he looks generic (no cool scar to be seen).
Louise Halevy: She devoted herself to the uniform of Arrows. Having lost her arm, she cut her hair short. What became of her former charming self cannot be told. (VA: Chiwa Saito – Francesca Lucchini in Strike Witches)
Kaioshin: Man I already miss the old chirpy Louise. Her expression looks so depressing and far-removed from the Louise in the first season. Especially the eyes.
Deathie: Potential angst fest here? I can’t see Louise throwing away her hate for the Gundams so easily after what “they” did in season 1.
Masked Man: A mysterious man who consciously wears a solemn mask and battle surcoat. What is his true character? (VA: ????)
Kaioshin: The best disguise since Quatrro Bagina’s glasses in Zeta Gundam.
Deathie: It’s…it’s the iron man!
Wang Liu Min: Wang changed from a beautiful girl into a beautiful woman. Her once inappropriate smile and eyes seem to show cleverness now. (VA: Kei Shindou – Kuro Kagami in Kodomo No Jikan)
Kaioshin: Hopefully we’ll find out what her deal is and why she said she wanted to see the world burn in the first season.
Deathie: Beautiful woman indeed. She looks more mature now but I bet her “calm and controlling” aura remains as sharp as ever.
Ribbons Almack: After five years having gone by, there is no change felt in his form. What does the meaning of the word Innovator have? (VA: Tohru Furuya – Amuro Ray In Mobile Suit Gundam Series)
Kaioshin: Wow…..it looks like Sunrise buddied up with Square Enix on this particular piece of artwork. This is your last boss for Kingdom Hearts III right here folks. Seriously though I hope they don’t play him up as to metrosexual. Why is it that the next evolution of humanity is always an androgenous dude that poses like a biblical figure in these things though?
Deathie: First thing I thought looking at his design…he is cross dressing, definitely cross dressing. Then his blurb, he seems to be an immortal vampire.
Neena Trinity: Couldn’t find a translation on her bit. Sorry. (VA: Rie Kugimiya – Does she really need any introduction?)
Kaioshin: Wow if they wanted to make her look more evil then the first season then they did a good job. I’m digging the black outfit, harsh facial expression and the “Pose of Absolute Confidence” (TM) Can’t wait to see what she’s piloting in this one. No shipping by the way….
Deathie: Never liked Neena, never will. And it doesn’t look like the shock she had in season 1 has changed her at all (perhaps made her more erm…”crazy?”).
Saji Crossroad: Is now working as an engineer on the Proud Colony. (VA: Miyu Irino – Syaoran in Tsubasa Chronicles)
Kaioshin: Well it seems Saji’s finally grown up, graduated from Engineering college and is exploring the frontier of space colonization. He’s no longer the Milquetoast we saw in the first season, but Louise is still better then him because now she’s a test pilot. Poor Saji…..hopefully they can get back together again.
Deathie: I am betting he will end up working for Celestial and somehow manage to tie the knot with Louise and be back in time for tea.
Shirin Bakhtiar: She parted ways with Marina and jumped out into the world from Azadistan. She wears a more active attire which differs from when she was in the royal palace. (VA: Michiko Neya – Riza Hawkeye in Fullmetal Alchemist)
Kaioshin: So she’s no longer just Advisor-Chan anymore. I’m not really surprised to learn she’s joined some sort of resistance going from her hardass exterior and roots in wartorn Azedistan. I’m wondering if she’ll have to rescue Marina at some point, and judging from the PV’s Marina may in fact land in some trouble somewhere along the line.
Deathie: Ad-advisor chan is that you? I have no opinions of her fortunately.
Marina Ismail: Again no translation sorry, but you probably no who she is already if you saw the first season. (VA: Ayumi Tsunematsu – Lots of bit roles)
Kaioshin: Looks like Marina is going to be playing the damsel in distress again. As far as I know she’s still the leader of Azedistan. Whether she’s gotten better or worse at it remains to be seen.
Deathie: It’s sad, isn’t it Marina?
Claus Grad: One of the leaders of the anti-govermnent force “Kataron”. He has a strong will to oppose the distorted control by Arrows. (VA: Tokuyoshi Kawashima – Yuuichirou Hikari in Rockman.Exe)
Kaioshin: I’m guessing Kataron is the new Karaba. This guy looks like he could be a pretty cool character and sounds like a good leader as well. Though I’m sure Celestial Being will have to bail him out at least once in the early episodes.
Deathie: Cool! Here we have a potential badass character. For some reason, I’m getting a “Lockon type” vibe from him, which isn’t a bad thing.
Regena Regetta: The last character we saw at the end of the First Season. Wears the same clothing as Ribbons and has the same features as Tieria. (VA: Romi Paku – Loran Cehack in Turn A Gundam)
Kaioshin: Wow…thanks for the update on this character Newtype. Oh well, I’m just psyched at the prospect of my two favourite female VA’s appearing together in my favourite franchise. It doesn’t get much better then this from a fanboy perspective. From a casual viewers perspective though apparently Regena is a dude. Didn’t see that one coming, though I’m kind of not surprised at the same time.
Deathie: Another cross dressing fairy has appeared, wait? Tieria?! Of course not, I’m guessing that she is Tieria’s twin sister or something.
Sergei Smirnov: Not having participated in Arrows, he became a member of the Earth Allied Forces after the unification of the three superpowers. (VA: Unshou Ishizuku – Jet Black in Cowboy Bebop)
Kaioshin: Gotta love Sergei, always the moralist. I’m not surprised he decided to reject the invitation to join Arrows, but apparently his son did join. That could provide some interesting conflict of ideals within the family, and Sergei always struck me as a family man too. Which will he pick, his son or his ideals if it comes down to a decision? This is going to be interesting if played the way I hope it is.
Deathie: Sorry, I still can’t get rid on the “pedo bear” image from my head. But I love Sergei, he is a cool character. Here’s hoping that he doesn’t get the shaft in this season.
Soma Peries: Having grown over the passing months and years, she shows more characteristics of a person, more so a woman with a soft expression. (VA: Arisa Ogasawara – Cheza in Wolf’s Rain)
Kaioshin: So she’s no longer a bloodthirsty immature girl obsessed with winning. It looks like Sergei has managed to counter whatever the conditioning the super soldier program did to her. I hope this doesn’t mean that we won’t see her hop back into the cockpit once things go haywire again.
Deathie: Wohoo! Finally. It’s great to hear that she has become more human like over the past years. But I am kind of worried of what Sergei may have done to her for this transformation…*attempts to remove those mental images*
I also seem to have found a summary for the first episode. Read on at you own discretion and only if you are interested:
Episode.26:”The Angels Second Advent”
The Earth Sphere Federation’s independent security preservation force “Arrows,” was inhumanely supressing the opposition “Kataron,” while carrying out their duty of extermination. Meanwhile, Kataron member Claus, raced to the “Proud” colony, which was still undergoing construction, to rescue his comrades. At the colony, Saji was working as an engineer. Since his coworker was a member of Kataron, Arrows arrested him under false charges and made him do forced labor in a gravity block. Upon word of the Kataron’s rescue operation, Brigadier General Goodman and Colonel Zhejiang head to the colony on a space cruiser to execute their extermination operation. Onboard the ship is Louise, preparing for her first battle. Arrows mobile suit pilot, Captain Janine, spearheads a squad to infiltrate the colony to destroy the space ship and the mobile suits of the Kataron rescue squad. Furthermore, automaton unmanned killing machines are dropped into the colony. About that time, Setsuna had been monitoring Arrows for a long time and successfully managed to infiltrate the colony where he met Saji again by chance…
