Kaioshin:
What about those characters that don’t fit specifically into the category of Gar or Moe, but are a bit of both.
ghostlightning:
I don’t think it’s impossible to be both, despite how characters are almost always portrayed and interpreted one way or the other.
Oh yeah? Well I big to differ, and plain to object via the use of another poorly edited WMM Video.
I recall hearing about GARmoe before, but it looks like it’s not as mainstream a term/meme as I first thought. Anyway, while the two terms are conflicting in some ways, I usually use it (incorrectly?) to describe shows that combine elements of both “genres,” like Nanoha or Mai Hime. It’s not the kind of term to be taken seriously (which, ironically, contradicts this comment), but I occasionally use it anyway, and it works as long as you’re not picky about the definitions.
Nice little bit of Koromo and Gunbuster theme. For some reason it’s strangly fitting together ^^.
I admit this is the first time I hear about Moegar, though.
Really, Vita is all you’ll ever need.
To put it in the words of standard hero fodder: IMPOSSIBLE! IT CAN’T BE!
In other words, you feel protected by yet want to protect her at the same time? THIS IS SO CONFUSING.
Oh wait, MoeGAR?
Gunbuster!?
@Eternal: No definitely Moegar. Sounds more like a super robot name. Think about it. Muteki Kawaii Robo Moegar XII.
@Duo Maxwell: That’s cause I made the term up on the fly.
@Schneider: Be careful, Deathie is probably looking and he’s a crazy Fate fanboy. I don’t know what he’ll say to that.
@Vendredi: Impossible is just a word people say when they don’t feel like trying anymore.
@Owen S: Take your time, take your time now.
@black87: Indeed…..
Eh what anime is this from? It looks quite interesting.
It’s not difficult to imagine how a character can be both moe and GAR.
However, neither of the two can be experienced from the same character at the same time. Pieres comes close, but no. When the character is growling or brandishing a weapon or performing an attack — she does not inspire a feeling of needing protection from you the viewer.
Why, because she’s busy being GAR meaning you the viewer acknowledge superior ‘manhood’ and acknowledge it and are willing to be protected by it. The character may look cute while being GAR, but no way is she being moe.
@KaiDamien: Sora Kake Girl first, Gundam 00 second, Saki last.
I think that Nanoha from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha belongs in the MOEGAR category… And Hayate from Hayate no Gotoku (though he is a male).
@Kaioshin Sama thanks=)
