Don’t know what the gg half time break is talking about with regard to Code Geass R2 comparisons, but so many parts of this finale made me feel like I was watching Gundam 00 without the mecha and with a different goal and a smaller scope that I’m wondering what the deal is:

Eden of The East: It’s not over though, Mononobe hijacks the game and other players and twists the rules in order to find a shortcut to winning and becoming a messiah figure and for a time all but controls Juiz.
Ribbons sits comfortably in control of the Earth Federation as his plans to fulfill the conditions of the plan on his own unfold. He is the emperor
Gundam 00: It’s not over though, Ribbons hijacks the Aeolia’s plan and the Earth Federation which was supposed to be under the indirect watch of Celestial Being and tries to become a messiah figure for humanity and for a time controls Veda.
Ohsugi lays the blame all on Akira despite not knowing the truth
because Saki got involved in Akira’s dangerous lifestyle even though he had no fault in it
Akira and Co. moved to save Ohsugi who he though was in danger
They eventually work it out
Eden of The East: Despite Takizawa’s sacrifice some bitchy emo guy named Ohsugi tries to blame him anyway because he got burned with his girlfriend getting involved with his groups activities….despite the fact that Takizawa tried to save his ass. Eventually he comes around though and helps Takizawa out.
Saji lays the blame on Setsuna despite not knowing the truth
Because Louise got involved in his dangerous lifestyle even though he had no fault in it
Setsuna and Co. Moved to save Saji who was in danger
Gundam 00: Despite Setsuna’s sacrifice some bitchy emo guy named Saji tries to blame him anyway because he got burned with his girlfriend getting enveloped in his groups activities……despite the fact that Setsuna’s comrade Allelujah saved his ass. Eventually he comes around though and helps Setsuna out.
Juiz Is Moved
The NEETs Assist In Helping Akira clear out the missile swarm
Akira puts an end to Mononobe’s last ditch effort
But this tale has yet to end
Eden of The East: Akira Takizawa who has since the beginning been led along by Mononobe manages to steal the game back from him with the help of the Eden group and the NEETs he helped and win it while becoming the true messiah in the process, but the story isn’t over and will be continuing in the movies.

Heck even the music was starting to sound a bit like Gundam 00′s during Saki’s breakdown of Akira’s actions. Make of it all what you will folks, I’ll just continue to wait on the movies for both of these fine franchises.

Some of it matches most of it doesn’t.
Akira taking the fall for careless monday is nothing like Celestial beings end at 00 S1. Celestial being didn’t want to be defeated.
Akira wasn’t “led around” by Monobe. I think especially here you are extremely stretching the situations in order to make them alike when they aren’t at all.
Saki was never in any real danger compared to Louise who was badly hurt. Many other people were killed by Celestial beings actions whereas Ohsugi only had a suspicion that Akira was “a criminal”. The only real reason Ohsugi didn’t like Akira is because he was with Saki.
I don’t see how Juiz being moved by a third party is anything like Veda being recovered by Tieria.
The Geass R2 comparisons come in because of the sacrificial nature of Akira taking the fall for world peace on purpose. Celestial being never intended to be defeated.
However I must say that you did well in pointing out many of the similarities that did exist, so its not all negative

But you know, the whole “one guy taking the fall for others” scenario seems pretty popular these days. Maybe Code Geass and Lelouch left a big impression on the anime industry. xD
