Apparently Tsubasa is actually from one of Go Nagai's other works called Violence Jack. I can't say I'm to surprised considering how Imagawa has always shown a pentient for crossing over series during his adaptations. He did it with Giant Robo as well. Many of the characters and mecha you see actually came from Babel and Tetsujin 28.

Tsubasa is awesome, and if she was my mom (no offense to my lovely mama) I'd be hyped.

Imagawa has indeed become my favorite director, and I wish for the day he'd do a BONES mashup, something like RahXephon: The Day the Music Died.

Given my familiarity with Imagawa's previous work Giant Robo (a crossover work as well), I shouldn't have been too surprised at what he pulled here. Still, Tsubasa as Kouji and Shiro's mother? That came from left field for me, really. Well, at least Kenzou (from Great Mazinger) in this universe had good taste...
