#7 Shana From Shakugan No Shana
Alluring Quality 9/10: Shana has a tendency to walk around in nothing but bandages a seems to love fluttering her hair out in a very enticing manner. Not to mention she draws a hell of a lot of attention when she enters her full blown combat mode and her hair turns red giving off glowing embers. Couple that with a Noizi Ito character design and we are looking at a 9/10.
Callousness 7/10: Early on she doesn’t even care about any of those around her who die and only her mission, even going so far as to cut right through Yuji to reach a Guze No Tomagura. If she had remained so cold throughout the series it would have been a 10, but later she comes to identify with Yuji and some of his friends after he gives her a name and a place to live and even goes far enough to rescue him from danger numerous times. So it’s a halfway 7/10 for Shana here.
Power 9/10: Shana’s true power isn’t entirely clear, but she can seemingly take down being several times her size with a mere headbutt as well as reconstruct people and objects that are destroyed by Crimson denizens using any residual power of existance. She can also fly, has a flaming sword and is seemingly a master of sword combat as well as the martial arts. All with such a small body. A 9/10.
Lolidom Factor 8/10: She kicks, punchs and goes really hard on Yuji during his “training” as she calls it and can be pretty merciless on him. It’s not to the degree of torture that Louise Long Name is capable of but it looks like it hurts. One of my favourite lolidom moments with Shana is where she kicks him through (literally through) a closet door when she thinks he’s spying on her. It’s an 8/10.
Loliness 9/10: And don’t think because she’s a cold blooded creature that she can’t display moments of pure loliness. Her love of Melonpan being one that causes her to make odd squeaking noises and to blush while eating it. About to get pummelled, hand Shana a loaf of Melonpan as a bribe. Also she get’s little daughterish around Yuji’s mother to the point where you can imagine her patting Shana on the head and saying “good girl”. And there are other moments of random loliness. What can you expect from a Seiyuu like Rie Kugimiya who loves to improve noises into her roles. It’s a cool 9/10.
Overall 42/50: Shana went a long way into turning me into a lolicon, but she wasn’t the one that did it…that comes later. She did introduce me to one of my favourite seiyuu in Rie Kugimiya now, who I might add I liked before she became ultra-popular. (this is normal though as I always tend to notice things or people before everyone else does, which sometimes can be a little annoying) She hasn’t aged particularly well as Season 2 of the series has shown us, but she’s still a hallmark of the Crotch Stomping Loli species and even managed to win the Loli Battle on Lolitron last year (which just started up again a few days ago). So 5 more to go. We are nearing the end of this unreasonably long journey.
