Beautiful….Well The High Def Streamed Version That I Can’t Provide Directly That Is
If people hadn’t noticed already, I’m a huge Gundam fan, and the only thing that’s got more excited and in anticipation of it’s eventual release more than Gundam 00 Season 2 is the upcoming MS Igloo 2 OVA. It’s a good thing then that Sunrise/Sotsu Agency should think to release a PV for the first OVA to whet my appetite and boy does it just look orgasmically awesome. At least to me. The OVA is set to take place during the One Year war again (Cause having it in any other time period would defeat the purpose of showing the other sides of the war since beyond the One Year War Mobile Suits became the mainstream weapon of war and there arguably were no real other sides) and will focus on the Earth Federations ground war this time. The OVA is all CG, but that doesn’t stop it from looking incredible (Are you taking notes Gonzo?) and now even the personel look like something resembling….um human. Their motions seem less exagerrated and more natural at least as far as the PV goes and even the close up of one person’s (who I assume is the main character) face reveals a less glassy and more detailed look. I liken the difference between the human CG characters we’ve been shown a glimpse of in the MS Igloo 2 PV and the ones in the original OVA as to what it might be like if you put an early PS2 Era cutscene and an Xbox 360 cutscene next to each other. The improvement is that drastic.
And I know the PV looks kind of shitty because this is a version I found that was recored at a convention, but there is a High Def streamable version available on the series homepage. The only problem is that the series being a Sunrise one and it being Gundam, they require you to stop short of selling your soul to them to view it. What I mean by that is you have to go through gratuitous amounts of over complicated digital license aquisition and tricky usage of Windows Media Player. If you want to see the High Def and clear version (and don’t say I didn’t warn anybody) then open Windows Media Player and use the Open Url function. Input “http://free.dot-anime.com/movie/igloo2_bv01_l.asx” without the quotations and hit enter and with any luck a window should appear after some loading that states you do not have the Digital License to view the content etc etc. It will ask you if you want to visit the page to acquire them or may ask you to upgrade a component. (See how this can get annoying) Do both or the former and if windows asks you to allow an ActiveX to execute through WMP then agree to allow it. (You’ll have to start the process over if you do this though as it will have blocked it the first time cold turkey) Once you eventually access the page the Digital License should be granted and confirmed and you can click play to view the video. After all that if you aren’t cursing the Sunrise logo when it pops up then you have the patience of a saint. The process arguably takes two or three times longer to complete then the actual length of the video itself.
Anyway, that about marks all there is to say about MS Igloo 2 up to the is point. I’m assuming that if nothing gets in the way I’ll be blogging the series along with Gundam 00 Season 2 when the time comes.
