Yozakura Quartet episode 2 ~ Why she hates humans…

Gyuu-tan is so cute…

Okay, with Shikabane still doing worse off than I imagined, I think I will stick to blogging this series and perhaps do a time skip into the future if that series picks up into something more jaw dropping than what we are getting at the moment. I might pick up Ga-Rei though if the second episode is as complete mind rape as the first (making it a rather busy season *shakes head*).

Thoughts: Well to put it into a nutshell, this was basically an episode about Rin and her hate for humans. Though somewhat understandable for me because I know that in anime where there are humans and “other-kin” around, the humans tend to be the bad guys and sometimes destruction of the planet is well deserved. So with that in mind while I was watching this episode, I can empathasize with Rin’s situation and it more or less justifies her reason for being disgusted at the fact that the leader of the “Youkai protection squad” is a Youkai murderous human himself…from Rin’s perspective anyway.

Rin may come across as being racist but judging from the traumas of her flashback…at least she has a pretty damn good reason to question living in harmony with “humans” in general compared to humans who are racist to Youkais for no reason? Yet another reason why humans are an evil race *laughs*.

I still say that this is a pretty stable and enjoyable series. It doesn’t try to be anymore than what it really is at the moment so, even with a seemingly slow or time wasting introductory episodes, I find this episode to be quite a relaxing “popcorn fest”.

But what I didn’t like that fact that this development used up a whole episode to developed a character which may be doomed to fade into the background or until when some big enemies need an ass kicking, and with that, the whole episode seems kind of wasted if it can be used with developing the “Quartet” characters instead. Still, this is just the second episode so it wasn’t that much of an eyesore for me.

This episode also introduced some “leader” of the city who is a completely Shota type character. Not only that, he has the evil look down and a harem of cosplay girls to do his bidding. If I didn’t know any better, I would say that he is one of those character whose appearance is not a reflection of their age. Also, Ao’s brother (just to avoid confusion, this is not confirmed as someone has already mistaken) seems to have a thing against the tree…is he trying to destroy it in order to unleash all the beasties from hell?

None of the cast come across as being annoying thus far which is a great encouragement for continuing on with the series. Even the usually retarded and weak male lead stereotype is pushing all the right buttons for me. What Akina did in this epsiode was a combination of smarts and maturity. He is one of the few male leads I can’t criticise for having done anything wrong…yet…
