Oh boy oh boy…It is becoming more and more clear that love in this series slowly drives people crazy when they fail to realise their own feelings. Just as the title suggests, the longer they leave stuff unattended, the worse it will become until you reach the point where you go completely mad, breakdown or bald. This week we finally see more significant movement for the main characters and what appears to be the beginning of the end for their sanity. Neither Touya nor Yuki can escape it now when they are both responsible for the current situation they are in and the ball to destruction has begun to move, it will be interesting to see how much further this can be taken until the thread snaps. In other news, I should have the entry for TOA done later on (with the raw if need be >.>).
Nevermind the numbers, just give me that awesome poster!
The episode begins with Eiji giving a pep talk to the girls about the “fight” that he had tangled them in (unwillingly) this time round. While his explanation was complete garbage, to put it simply it seems like his and the other manager’s bet has something to do with the “proportion” of people that go to the concerts rather than the actual figures since the Sakura dan have an overwhelming amount of capacity. So factoring this in, this is a battle of popularity and Eiji added an exciting twist to it by having the disadvantages all over to his side. I suppose this is exactly what he wanted to see for someone who is bored with life but I do have to wonder why he can’t just take up bungee jumping instead if he wants a thrill…instead of ruining other people’s sanity. *Shrugs*
While Eiji doesn’t care about how his fun and games affect others, throughout the episode we do get a clear picture of how the stress is finally catching up to everyone, namely poor Rina.
You make it sound like a game…oh wait! >.>
And just to add more “lulz” he asked Rina about Touya in front of Yuki…well Yuki isn’t dumb and she has a hunch that he is talking about Touya but this just indicates that Rina have yet to tell Yuki that she is borrowing her boyfriend for the meantime…so much deception, so much lies…sweet sweet drama *rolleyes*
Meanwhile I am rather surprised that Touya is thinking about Yuki…I should probably just give it up and accept that he still loves her but still…his track record is nothing to be cheering about
The cat’s out of the bag~you did it!
Next comes the letter topic which had to turn up sooner or later and rightfully so it was addressed in this episode with Rina talking to (or rather accusing) Yayoi about it. I found that this scene was interesting to highlight the personalities of both characters and the uncertainty of Rina’s feelings for Touya. While the conversation ended up being onesided thanks to Yayoi’s natural “ice queen” cool, it also tells us about her own stance in this…
Inner thoughs: “lies, lies, lies!”
Not surprisingly, possibly, I was half expecting Yayoi to deny that she had any feelings in ripping up the letter but we do know for a fact that she did it purely by accident and had been planning on giving it to Touya all along. But since she did make such a mistake, rather than apologising for it we have Yayoi here returning back to her old stance that “Touya must not get in the way of Yuki” which is clearly a contridictory to her intended actions. It seems like her previous stance had softened with time to even agree to help Yuki with something like this which indicates some rather nice character growth. But when it comes to situations like this, Yayoi quickly returns back to the strict manager that she was before only to act on a professional level even if it meant being cold blooded. There is just so much to grasp onto her complex character and it definitely isn’t easy to predict what she may do next. While she may not be showing any signs of regret towards Rina, I am sure that deep down, she does feel sorry for Yuki hence the following remarks towards Rina.
So just as we have learnt a bit more about Yayoi, the same applies for Rina who we did see breakdown after reading the letter that Yuki had written. By all means it wasn’t right for her to read something this private but Rina is only human…though I can see that she is regretting ever knowing Yuki’s true feelings as this just makes it harder for her to be closer to Touya (as she would know just exactly to what extent she is betraying her friend by). This whole farce of saying that “it is for Yuki’s sakes” is nothing more than a scapegoat for what they are really feeling methinks. For both of them, I can see that they have their own reasons for keeping Touya and Yuki separate and it isn’t pretty…
Of course she doesn’t mind if Rina did since she was going to do so anyway…
But knowing that she has Rina in a dilemma, she presses on to put her off the idea
Obviously Rina feels that it is unfair to have this pushed onto her but it isn’t like accusing Yayoi of anything would do anything to change the fact, especially if Yayoi doesn’t mind if they know or not
Or is it really?
So back to the subject of it being “yuki’s sakes”, I can end up thinking of a few reasons why it is nothing but a white lie. For Rina she ended up not telling Yuki nor Touya about the letter because it would end up hurting her relationship with Touya…that is if they both get closely together again then who would Rina go running to for comfort when she needs it? We haven’t seen Rina having any friends in the series at all apart from Touya and Yuki so it is only natural to assume that she has no one to go running to when the going gets tough, hence why she has always come across as a tough woman who can take care of herself. But this isn’t really the case and in order to keep this safety net of hers, Rina unwillingly becomes the devil who does (or not do) things for her own convenience. I really can’t blame her since this type of stuff easily happens…
For Yayoi I can feel that she has begun to reach a turning point in her character. With the stalker shaking her emotions as seen previously, it isn’t surprising to see her seeking warmth from another human being who is considered “harmless”. Funnily enough she is giving Touya all her “goodies” while being completely afraid of the stalker but it does show the extent of her insecurity. Being an ice queen type character, it doesn’t seem that Yayoi knows any emotions at all but at least she does know how to use her body to charm a member of the opposite sex. But while this is a harsh truth for the moment, I just don’t believe that Yayoi is doing it out of evil but on the contrary she may be developing more than what a lot of people think, since she hardly shows any emotions. I do believe that she is going through a phase where she is discovering some changes even though she doesn’t know what they are. It’s love my dear, love 😉
For some reason…whenever I look at this scene I feel depressed…
Rina doesn’t belong here…not here…she is more classy than this…
Meanwhile, here is another glimpse into Touya’s head. So he is thinking about Yuki afterall but I have to question why he is so spineless if it is the case that he wants to see her so much…why don’t you just GO and see her? Ironically while Touya kept saying that Yuki was too much like “air” for him in the past, being away from her only makes him realise that he may want her afterall…so you mean to tell me I can forgive him if he realises how much of an idiot he is to have taken Yuki’s presence for granted? Hardly *rolleyes*
Nana chan is such an awesome singer, really…I want this song badly!
@ Touya’s inner thoughts: Oh I can just see the painful state he will be in when he comes to realise the truth. Little does he know Rina has already started to become the devil in between his and Yuki’s relationship since she has been subconsciously keeping them away from each other for her own sakes. Take this oddball job for example, it is a clear indicator that Rina wants to be together with Touya for more than a friends’ reason…she probably feels bad about it herself but she can’t stop herself from doing so since this is the time where she needs someone to cry on. When this bubble pops, it is going to be hell I tell ya!
And things aren’t going well with her at all since she keeps messing up with her practice, it’s called stress my dear
Once again Touya is talking about Yuki here and how he is disappointed that she hasn’t contacted him about her first concert, little does he know Yuki has and Rina is hiding the truth (the devil thing again)
I would like to be paid for doing nothing not to mention going on a dinner date with an idol
At this point I think it is clear that Touya’s job is nothing more than being an overlooker for Rina. I mean even he has caught onto the fact that he hasn’t done anything thus far so I wonder how much longer it will take for him to realise that Rina is being way to nice to him to be “just friends”.
I wants this job!
I just don’t understand the significance to his goddess statements anymore
And finally here you have it… the first signs of Yuki cracking like an egg from not being able to see Touya…I sense great a yandere in her
As much as I love Mana for her sharp lip, she has been annoying me ever since she begun to hang out with Haruka (or Yuki as she so stubbonly believes), so I am just going to skip the crap conversation between her and Haruka this time
Speaking of which, here is another lovely couple who are finally doing what couples should be doing, that is spending time with each other. Sadly, it seems that Misaki has gotten over her denial phase and is beginning to push Akira away saying that she can do things by herself but he is having none of it much to her distress. So this is what the mean when they say that you shouldn’t show even a glint of affection to someone who you know likes you…Misaki may have made a big mistake here since Akira is under the impression that she wants him…
Normally friends would say hi to each other through speech
But with Akira’s ego through the roof like that, he no longer needs to hide his bastardly, back stabbing side anymore (grrrr)
No crap considering she never did complete her song during practice
Moving onto the main course of the episode we have this bombshell of a scene which shows the first breakdown of Touya. Understandably it came about a bit too sudden for my tastes but nontheless it was a significantly realistic scene that gave us a glimpse of the sheer pressure Touya is going through. In his own little, clueless way it does seem that he is still just too young and naive to handle things like “love” and amongst the confusing mist of things he finally crack unable to do anything.
The gossip certainly didn’t help his case
But I wouldn’t mind being Rina’s favorite pet…wait pet? Can’t we begin to draw parallels between Rina and Eiji?
He must be talking about Mana and Haruka here
Then changing the topic to his no good friends
But as Yayoi and I have noticed, he strangely ignored anything to do with Yuki and the reason seems to be because he is running away from the truth. I mean not seeing Yuki for so long slowly became a burden on him and before you know it he started to think about her all the time (note earlier in the episode) yet he knows that he is unable to do anything at this state, truth is with him in Yayoi’s car it just shows that he is still under the binding deal that they did earlier. No matter what Touya said before about breaking out of this he is unable to (being a weak person afterall) and now it has come to this. Under the slight mention of Yuki he cracks up and begins crying like a dejected child. But while it did feel sudden I still thought that the scene was done well enough to show that he does feel and thinking, have problems like a human so for the sake of realism it wasn’t completely illogical. It’s just that the scene should have had more of a lead up to it rather than just happening like that.
The first time I have ever thought “poor guy” to him…he should be happy
Well duh since none of Yuki’s messages ever reach him, not the phone calls nor the letters
At this point I can’t help but think: he really is just a kid in a big body
Oh, and this scene…completely hot and sexy and…well not only does it show how awesome of a character Yayoi is, it also gives hint that she may be developing emotions as she really did try to comfort Touya whilst not knowing how to other than giving pleasure to him (oh come on, she is still learning ^^’).
My goddess of the day
And as the days tick on, Rina is still no better than before
Ironically she phones Yuki for support but gets put in another tough spot when she asks her about Touya, but well I can see that fate is telling them that they aren’t meant to be and this will just end in a river of tears.
Rina lied again, probably, but it still hurts her nontheless
Something taken out of gundam? :p
And just to end the episode on a high why don’t we have Touya rejecting Rina’s date offer for Yayoi
