Umineko no Naku Koro ni Translation Patch: new release, First 9 chapters of Episode 4!

That’s a shame that we couldn’t release the patch sunday considering that almost everything was done, but once again, my shitty schedule wasn’t exactly helping…
Well, at least it was within our expected deadline so…

Well then, shall we start?

Witch Hunt is proud to announce that the new patch for Umineko no Naku Koro ni is available!

The new patch covers the first 9 chapters of Episode 4, Alliance of the Golden Witch. You can get it with the following link:

As usual, please do not overwrite the old patch if you were using it. Rather, please delete it and then install the v4.0. Worry not, the save states are not in the patch folder.
Note: Because of the new feature, it is very likely that any old save state (regardless of the episode) will act up very weirdly most of the time. We suggest you all to make new save state starting from this patch release even for the previous episodes.
Our apologies for this inconvenience.

Please be sure to check the NEW readme file as some specific points must be taken in account for the full use of the patch (a lot of content has been changed, and the format is itself, easier to read).

Log of the recent changes
-Chapters 0-9 of Episode 4
-Sound glitch fix working for vista (repeated sound SFX)
-Buttons everlasting “red effect” bug fixed
-Quake freeze bug fixed
-A new feature has been added! Check out the start of any Episode!

Please don’t hesitate to leave your feedbacks, comments, troubleshoots and so forth here!

You should release a version without a locale check at the start. Because of it, i have to reboot into the japanese locale every time i want to play, despite ep1-3 working perfectly well without even using applocale. Now even applocale doesn’t do the job, only a reboot works.

Well considering that this is a Japanese game…I don’t think they have the ability to do so…(without loading Japanese locale that is since they still need to run the game from the original japanese files).

I don’t have that problem anyway since I just leave mine in japanese anyway.

    And WOHOO! New patch 😀
Special thanks to Klash and his crew ❤

Well the best I can do is provide a rapidshare link until Klash comes back.

Anon: the check isn’t exactly a locale checker, but it does check a specific track in your BGM folder. If the game is unable to read it, it means it is missing or the script cannot catch it (which means, no japanese locale or applocale).

Please check if you actually have a 翼.ogg file. If you don’t, it is pretty much a given.
The problem with applocale is the fact it doesn’t install completely the game appropriately, and a good chunck of the BGM isn’t installed. Please check back your disc and see if the size and the number of track are the same.

If it still doesn’t work, you will have to rename “翼.ogg” into “80.ogg”. However, I won’t guarantee that your game will be able to play all BGM (the fact the check is acting up means you WON’T have all the BGM).

Ruka: sure. our own rapidshare link was added.
Same goes for a mac OSX version and its rapidshare mirror.

Yea, I was getting the check issue too when I tried to start the game. I looked in the BGM folder for the 翼.ogg file, and it’s there. I can even see the correct ‘翼’ character. I’ve run episodes 1 through 3 just fine on vista, so I can’t figure out why it thinks I need to set my computer to play japanese games…

OK, as I was writing this, I changed ‘翼’ to ’80’ and the game started fine. As Idashikari mentioned, I’m wondering now how much BGM I may have been missing out on 😛

Hey guys, just stepping in to say thanks for the translations as always. Also, I think there might be a problem with the OS X patch – I couldn’t get the Onscripter application file to run and had to use the one from the demo for it to work. Don’t know if it’s just me though.

I had the exact same problem and the same workaround helped me.

I’ve been trying to play the patches but after the “07th Expansion” and “Witch Hunt” screen comes, it’s just a black screen for me. Sometimes, if I hover over, I see “Exit” and such. Anyone know what to do or how I can fix this? 😦 I really have been trying.

Did you check the structure of your game directory?
If so, please have a look at this image guide. That might help you to see how it goes.

That was very helpful! Thank you! ♥
