SD Gundam G Generation G Wars On The Horizon

I can’t believe I missed this, but then again it doesn’t exactly seem like it’s been all that heavily promoted either.  I had often wondered why exactly SD Gundam G Generation Spirits which came out last year was U.C only and seemed so unpolished, while it’s predecessor SD Gundam G Generation F had every show and side story up to Turn A when it came out.  Now I know, and really I’m not surprised that it was another one of Bandai’s bait and switch marketing ploys.  Release a game that is really a neutered and watered down version of a game that you plan to release in the future and rush it out the door without really bothering to fine tune or balance the systems.

I so desperately want to express my disdain for this tactic right now, but I suppose I should just be psyched that a proper version of this generation of the SD Gundam G Generation series actually exists, and that it’s set to have so much stuff in it.

Here’s the chance for people that are disapproving of “hax” to find out what Gundam truly wins in a one on one fight.  Can Amuro Ray’s humble RX-78-2 Gundam actually hope to take on the mighty Gundam Exia in Trans-Am mode?

Will Dynames with the GN-ARMS be able to outdo a Dendrobium Orchis.  Also it looks like they are bragging about the usual encyclopedia and movie system that gets featured in these Strat-RPG games

Who has the biggest gun? Virtue with it’s GN Launcher, Gundam X with it’s Satellite Cannon or Wing Zero with it’s Twin Buster Rifle.  Also can Arios out Zeta Gundam the Zeta Gundam and will Trans-Am + Hallelujah be enough to outclass Biosensor + a pissed off Kamille Bidan?  Who wins in a fight, the Gundam Nadleeh or the Nobel Gundam?  Oh and hey look there’s the Star Gazer with the Star Gate on it’s back.  Who will win the transportation wars, the Steel Seven or the Star Gazer? These sadly enough are the things I care enough about to analyze the sci-fi/mecha junkie that I am.

And of course Turn A Gundam and Seed now make their proper G Generation debut with the Moonlight Butterfly and Skittles Beam respectively.  This after being left out of spirits entirely for some reason.  Kind of makes me wonder just how much dummy data is on my Spirits disc

Loving the Gundam X’s this is my boomstick pose and look forward to using Tifa in my party as well.  Also good to see Epyon again after being left out of so many SRW’s in a row that have featured Endless Waltz but no Wing.  There’s something about a “Wars Break” system on the right, but I couldn’t guess at what it does other then perhaps being a new version of the Tension gauge from past G Gen games.  The game also seems to feature the usual levelling up system from past G Gen games as well

And of course this game needs it’s hot bloodedness so a lack of G Gundam is absolutely out of the question

All in all I am psyched and this puts me in a good mood for the first time in about a week, but I still have to wonder what I am going to do with my SD Gundam G Generation Spirits disc since it’s now been rendered completely and utterly obsolete.  This game is due out some time in the summer and if there is one big hope I have from it it’s that it balances things out better than G Generation Spirits did.  There’s something incredibly taxing about having stages that go on for upwards of 3 hours with seemingly never ending groups of reinforcements that eventually just drain you as they pound away at your base ship to the point where you can’t possibly win.  More stages, less content per stage please.

Definitely have to agree with G Gen Spirits having way too many reinforcements and way too much grinding in order to have mechs and pilots be able to stay alive in the later stages.

Hopefully that will change with the new game coming out.

@shingin: The worst part for reinforcements had to be where I was doing the escape from Kasseralia stage in the V Gundam scenario and after dealing with what seemed like way to many enemies for that stage of the show in defending the Camio trucks with the V Gundam I assumed the stage would be over when they pulled into their destination and I popped off all the enemies. Instead what happened is the map expanded Supreme Commander style and a whole new wave of enemies popped up below and started making a beelien for the Camio trucks while all of my units were still in need of resupply in their ships and I ended up having to sacrifice a Phoenix Zero in order to salvage the stage. Like…was it too much to ask to end the stage there or at least split the stage in two like they do sometimes?

Same problem with Ramba Ral’s attack on the White Base in the Mobile Suit Gundam scenario where he keeps getting more and more reinforcements and the White Base’s inability to move made it’s HP more of a time limit than anything else.

Another annoyance was the 08th MS Team Finale where they decided it would be a good idea to pop Shiro out right in the middle of Norris’ group so that they immediately tried to slaughter him and I just had to save and reload and hope that I could survive to the next turn to get him out of there.

Seriously if they just fix the player/enemey reinforcement to make it seem like less of a deliberate slap in the face to the player then this game will probably end up being the best G Generation entry since F.

Not if they announce you can use the SD Gundam Spirits’ save file for this game.

If they stick with this kind of stage setup, meaning unlimited reinforcement work, then I can already see hell in one of Gundam 00’s stage.

@Duo Maxwell: I’m assuming you mean the three power’s desert attack on the Gundams? That could probably end up being really hard because not only do each of them have to take on a large number of suits, but each has to deal with their rival.
