After watching Juuden chan, baseball bats just make me laugh~
I don’t know if you guys get the same feeling, but the more I listen to the opening theme, the more I feel like kicking ass (especially when it gets to the 39 degrees part). This is without doubt my favourite opening theme from this season.
Thoughts: So three episodes in and we finally have scenes that steer away from the GARness and instead settle down to laying some foundation for the plot to come and whatever unspeakable evil that the main bad guy, Adam Arclight, is planning. However, I can’t say that these scenes are the most interesting part of the episode as they feel largely disjointed from the mood of the series and the sudden change from Blade kicking ass to a load of old guys discussing their evil deeds in a board room isn’t exactly anything but a mood breaker. Granted they needed to insert it somewhere sooner or later though, I preferred that they did get it out of the way first instead of being a drag later on. Besides it was needed information for the story to become broader to the viewers.
Now back onto the actual episode. It was great once again. As seen in the preview some muscle bound hot shot takes another whack at fighting blade and for the sake of consistency, since this guy controls fire (pretty much like Stiyl but a lot cooler) I will address him as Fire Man. Once again, Eve’s naming sense for the guy is top notch hilarious.
So Fire Man faces off against Blade during this episode but ends up losing in the end due to Blade’s copy cat ability making him an awesome cheat. It was great to see that Blade will actually use the skills that he has stolen off others in combination with each other making for a wide range of combos open to him to pull off after collecting a few more abilities. I guess it isn’t any surprise that Fire Man loses to Blade but what is surprising about the outcome of the episode is that Fire Man turned out not to be an assassin from SIMEON which I will explain below in the screen caps.
As for the characters. Blade and Eve are their usual selves and the old man professor turned out to be immortal. But it is Yamada (formally named Cruz) who gives me an impression that he is developing, slowly but surely developing. I really have to hand it to Yamada for being an amusing character to watch when he is of the “weak kid” stereotype and usually those I want to murder for being such a hindrance to the group, yet I don’t feel that way towards him. So far his actions have proven him to be quite human but not one who doesn’t have any courage at all or are without brains. It is just that he knows that he is a powerless human who will certainly face death if he were to fight against a needless that he fears and there is nothing wrong with that at all.
However, if Blade is the brawns and Eve is the service of the group, then Yamada has shown that he is the brains here. Even in the previous episode he has shown off some considerable thinking power in comparison to Eve which saved their asses and in this episode it was once again Yamada who explained explicitly to Eve why Fire Man isn’t part of SIMEON. Unfortunately due to he situation, and Yamada’s own powerless state, he is forced to be the “slave” of the group and is in charge of cooking an cleaning. I guess he can only level up when he finds his own special powers and I hope it happens.
The comedy once again was also top notch. Blade calling out to Yamada for food and then trashing his own confession box for examples are hilarious because you can see it actually coming.
Preview: One of the girls from the ED makes her debut. OMG KTKR!!!!! and Blade calls her imouto? WHAHAHAHA!
Screen caps (intentional skipping of the talking parts) and comments:
Blah blah blah black spot, blah blah blah bomb, blah blah blah everyone dies…
The hilarious part of this scene? Blade’s voice drifting over from the dining table to the tune of “YAMADA MESHIIII!”
Eve reminds Yamada that he missed a spot with the mop
And what’s this? It seems like there is a rare visitor to the church
Jiji tells Eve to help Yamada with the cleaning which results in a very funny face from her
Despite how Yamada looks though, he is smarter than you think and certainly isn’t needless baggage (no puns intended)
So the visitor goes into the confession box
Blade: “Who is the priest who is supposed to take care of stuff like that”
However, since it has been so long since Blade acted as a priest, Eve can’t resist but to go eavesdrop
Eve is lost -____-“
Fire Man: “I’m here to kill Adam, is he here?”
Blade’s first name being Adam Blade, Eve tells him to lie so that he will leave without trouble
LIKE HELL HE WILL!!!! RAGE!
So Fire Man is this week’s challenger
Man, Blade always looks so badass when he puts on his glove like that
“Eve! Take Cruz away from this place”
(Yamada for like it seems XD)
Eat this!!! “Shocking First Bullet” (Points to those who get the reference)
Another bit of development here for Yamada who worries about Blade but is told by Eve that he should be more worried about himself, makes sense
Those are some awesome skid marks
Then after the disjointed scene with old guys talking about their new weapon move back to the fight that has moved outside
ULTIMATE FIREBALL ATTACK!!
“As if something so big and slow looking would hit me”
“You can dodge if you want, but if you do the planet…err I mean, the old man behind you will be destroyed!!!”
“So you are still alive huh”
“And this is for blowing a hole in my church!”
Here is where Blade cleverly uses the spider threads he acquired before as a combo attack
Here is where Yamada uses his brains to figure out that Fire Man might not be an assassin from SIMEON. He explains to Eve in a roundabout way that Fire Man called Blade by his first name but in the previous episode it was clear that SIMEON doesn’t know the full name of Blade, conclusion? Fire Man isn’t an enemy from SIMEON…
Yamada gets smacked 😄
Meanwhile the cat is out of the bag back at the first aswell when Fire Man reveals that he is after Adam Arclight!
*A chilling wind*
“Alright, I’ll confess…”
But as comical as ever, Eve completely misses the plot and nails the poor dude 😄
TEHEE! (I won’t spoil the next scene)
And so Fire Man turns out to be an ally who is fighting against a common foe and his name is…
Badass guy looks on and continues scheming
