Mine is bigger than yours :p
Now if there is definite proof that Yamada isn’t a spineless/useless waste of space then it is shown in this episode in all his deserved glory. Yamada, you are DA MAN!
Thoughts: And this week brings about another splendid episode of NEEDLESS (as always) with the highest quality of action and as you will see one of the biggest “shit hitting the fan” scenes seen to date. As I’ve said the episode really shows off Yamada’s use of his brain power to compensate for being just a normal human. He was able to successfully deduce that Kurumi (the girl who is controlling Eve with her fragment) was in the same room as them and therefore flushed her out with what ended up being quite the gruesome result…
The animation was really top notch this week round with no scenes that stuck out as being blatantly horribly animated and thus made the fight even more enjoyable to watch. The first half of the episode concentrated on how each side matched up with one another with Seto getting a big shock that her opponent managed to find a weapon as big as her sword (and surely just as deadly XD). Solva faced off against Eve who proved to be more than a match but seriously, does Solva have to shout out “anti [insert target name here]” every time she uses magnetic world? I guess it make it more hilarious when she does the same thing for the ceiling and an oversized baseball.
Setsuna on the other hand made a sneak attack on Disk, Gido and Yamada. Even though he was coughing up blood, the way Yamada fought against Setsuna when it was totally useless really shows what kind of a person he is and have a lot of respect for him. It is foolish to look down on him despite his age which Kurumi found out as she ends up being impaled by her own hiding place and ends up falling to her death. A sad and shocking part of the episode not to mention a pleasingly gruesome one at that.
But one thing that stuck out with me was Setsuna’s attitude towards a comrade falling like that. She showed off a really calm and uncaring view on this which borderline makes me see her as being cruel as heck. If they are trying to give an impression that Setsuna and co. are villains here than they are doing a damn good job at it…I feel quite sad to see characters I like and view as being “harmless villains” being genuinely evil but on the other hand it does wonder for building their character and thus only adds to the complexity and enjoyment to the series. Enough of my ranting.
So with this Eve is free from the control of Kurumi…or so they thought but this is where the brilliance of the episode shines through as just as the tables turn on Setsuna’s group we have another one and it involves the gang falling for Eve’s trick not once…but twice, and with deadly consequences. It turns out that even with Kurumi’s death Eve is still under the control of the virus and with Seto, solva and Uchida letting their guards down like that it was only a free shot for Eve to pierce them all in one go…and just like that the tables turn yet again and I am left to pick up my jaw which has just dropped to the floor.
Simply “WTF” is the only comment I have for this and as Uchida got the full drill treatment from Eve it fell into the “holy shit” category…
So what will happen now??? Damn I can’t wait a week!!!
Preview: Saten is going to save the group? :O
Screen caps (no comments this week since wordpress is acting up and screwing my save data each time I switch to visual mode):
