Otaku lesson 1: Eroge! ~ Doujin work Episode 2

Lateness on my part due to my forgetful brain hehe ~ well let’s get the show on the road for episode 2 of this highly overlooked series ~ shall we ^_^

“doki doki…doki doki…”

In a Nutshell: From the previous episode we saw Najimi discovering her new “get rich quick” scheme but that type of stuff normal people (like the viewers watching the series) won’t understand. But then Sora pops Najimi’s bubble by showing the viewers her best work of art.

“masterpiece!”

After the opening song we find our heroines on the train again while Tsuyuri expresses her happiness that najimi is interested in producing doujins, even if that interest is leading towards the love of money. However, she then explains that a doujin artist needs experience and also talent, therefore she is having najimi reading some. We then move onto a static but blushing najimi. Tsuyuri calls to her but to no effect. She then moves to Najimi’s ear calling her name with causes the trance like Najimi to jump up, dropping the doujin cover side up.

Bondage lessons 101!?!

Najimi screams and tries to pick up the doujin but she kicks it further down the train which causes passenger to blush as the see the cover. Tsuyuri then gets up at the request of Najimi and returns the book to its owner, saying: “you’ve dropped your ero hon…” (Which some of you will know is my line above my avatar in AS forums :3). Najimi blows up.

Outside Najimi is angry at the fact that Tsuyuri used such a loud voice as she returned the manga. We get no further reply other than “I did not lie”. They arrive at the place where they are going to “shop”, Najimi is abandoned as she tried to mentally prepare herself. She doesn’t have the courage to go alone so instead follows some random women in front. However, this safety barrier doesn’t last long as the women are going up while Najimi has to reach the basement. But Najimi is relieved that the people here seemed normal.

She walks out of the elevator and we immediately see that the whole place reeks of otakuness. Najimi tries to escape from place by staying inside but Tsuyuri soon sniffs her out. She tries to calm herself down by saying that no one will look at her but then notices a boy staring at her. While Najimi finds him a bit handsome she doesn’t fret over it seen as the guy is a stranger. However, she then bumps into Justice. Tsuyuri shows Najimi a recommendation eroge and she is “forced” to buy it. Outside we have a reunion between Justice and Sora. Tsuyuri joins them in shopping for paints while Najimi returns home. Along the way she thinks that it would be best not to bump into anyone she knows but as fate has it…she does.

 

 

“Life is cruel”

She bumps into a friend and they talk whilst having a drink. Tobuko asks what Najimi has been doing which causes a spray of juice all over her. She then tries to see what is inside Najimi’s bag but is stopped. She asks why and Najimi tells her that something bad will happen. Next Najimi makes up some excuse to leave first (I guess walking with a crab is a pretty original excuse ^_^). Oh and she also leaves her friend with the bill.

“…”

That night we see/hear Najimi playing the eroge with a flustered face. As expected we get the whole “master/slave” treatment coming from such a game. There is a knock at the door and Najimi slams down the screen on her laptop. She answers to the call of her mother saying that her bath is ready. Najimi thinks that the house is too dangerous to hold items of such epic proportions and so calls Tsuyuri to go to her place.

The next thing we see is Najimi riding her bike at speed to Tsuyuri’s house but is stopped by a policeman. He asks what the bag contained and for Najimi to show him the contents. She flips and makes a run for it on her bike. With this act done she realizes that running away was the worse choice possible and nearly bumps into a guy while turning a corner. She is then chased by the officer. She then thinks it would be better to explain things but then sees back up arriving in front of her. She crashes and says sorry to her dear mother and father for being arrested.

The officers arrive and we see that the bag is empty. Najimi thinks that she left “it” at home and we see Tobuko walking past and taking notice of her. She is shocked but the crying Najimi reassures her friend that this isn’t what she is thinking of. The officers leave and we see Najimi talking with Tubuko sitting on some steps. A guy then shows up and presents Najimi with the thing that she dropped, right in front of Tubuko’s eyes. Najimi freezes and turns white while the guy says that he likes the game as well. Najimi vows to get drunk tonight!

Yes, just like last episode I am finding myself attached to this series more and more. This sharp and punchy type of comedy sketch is much more fitting to my tastes and to a great extent it is over what Lucky Star is able to product at the moment. I guess the type of humour is important as I tend to favour more “in your face” and “barrel of laughs” over subtle cultural references or parodies (which most of the times is lost of completely flies over my head). I will be looking forward to seeing more of this series in the future and how our sweet, sweet Najimi tries to find her inner otaku! ^_^
