Kure-Nai ~ Episode 12 ~ END and overall impressions

So this is the final episode for this series. I have to say before I start how wonderful it has been watching this and it is just a tad depressing to say goodbye to it already (seriously, three months passed by very fast in retrospect). But I can honestly say that this was also the finale I have been expecting and more. The final twist in the end was what made it that extra special and one could only hope for a second season (despite how the novel readers made disagree saying that this is such a different deviation from the original source, “blah blah”).

And so the castle siege begins. I was expecting this episode to include fighting, fighting and yes, more fighting. Surprisingly where there are some series which doesn’t live to expectations of a good fight, Kurenai is proving again to be different by giving us the good O’ heave-ho “slog” action. I was wondering though, wouldn’t it be easier if Benika just brought some firearms but despite going against normal “gangster” logic I respect Benika for not going for the easy option. She is just lucky that the enemy is as honourable as she is (bah! Honourable XD).

Kure-Nai ~ Episode 10 ~ Unerasable Memories

Isn’t this just terrible?

Just one word before I start this entry; damn!

Well as far as a predictable plot can be, this episode sure takes the cake (in a good way mind you). I’m sure that ‘most’ of you can see where this episode was heading from the preview but to have watched it believing that it won’t be anything special besides the usual “hero becomes depressed and tries to find his way” plot, this sure was a big surprise for me. By all means that it is still the cliché storyline but the content was absolutely delightful.

Either Lin Chenshin is insanely strong, or Shinkurou is unwilling to show his demonic powers. The funny thing is that I think that the answer is both considering that she was able to take out Yayoi without breaking a sweat and Shinkurou received an ass kicking…

Kure-Nai ~ Episode 8 ~ Pray for good luck

My apologies for the lateness, there was some things I needed to take care of. Anyway, here we are with another episode of Kurenai. This week it seems that the main event is just around the corner with warnings of bad luck (literally) and Shinkurou’s wavering feeling towards the true identity of Murasaki.

The first half of this episode was fairly peaceful and in the classic Kurenai style that I’ve grown to love. The group visit the shrine for Shichi-Go-San for Murasaki to pray for good luck.

Lesson 1: “Shinkurou is a lolicon”

And just when you think the DRAMA should be letting up since what happened with the previous episode should be pretty hard to top off; we get another helping of our weekly recommended DRAMA needs in one episode. If last episode was just a one off crack pot then things are definitely back on track and everyone is returning back to normal (In normal cases I would be saying “thank god” but this series is rather special for me).

The animation may be subpar, but I was attracted by something else

I choked, really I did. Kure-nai, the series that has earned so many praises from me (and a lot of other bloggers) for its spectacular development and plot has completely done something out of the ordinary. This week’s episode poses no development (and more or less no plot), yet, it has got to be one of the funniest episodes I have seen this season. The theme for this week? Musical HOME DRAMA!

You know what the surprising thing is? With each passing episode, I get more and more reassured that this series will remain being the best under-the-radar series for this season. Overlooking the current giant (and equally as anticipated for me) Code Geass, Kurenai easily comes up top to being the best series this season. 

Kure-nai ~ Episode 4 ~ Men don’t hit girls

You can imagine the pain I was in…

Well, I expected the worse would have come from the situation set up at the end of episode 3 but surprisingly they didn’t turn out as I expect. Not that it affected my enjoyment however, this series is still by far the best newcomer of this season. But definitely, this week there hasn’t been that much development between Shinkurou and Murasaki though the bond between them is still growing strong.

Okey, ignore the neko part but this episode highlight for me has to be the justice that Murasaki attempts to slap on some thugs, unfortunately for her, Shinkurou had other ideas…
