What, Jade? I don’t believe it…wait…he’s a scientist…
Well compared to the previous episode this one just seemed so slow…almost a bit too slow for my liking so it would have been bad if it actually ended up being boring on top of it. Though thankfully the past with Jade was interesting enough for me to last through the entire episode without letting my mind wonder off. The preview for the next episode looks like we will be getting some of that sweet, sweet fighting action so all is forgiven.
Thoughts: So as I’ve already said this episode was about the hidden past of Jade’s which he has done good to keep hidden from the others, and if it wasn’t for Jade’s sister (the first shocking revelation of the day), Luke wouldn’t have known anything at all.
But firstly let’s talk about all the random bits leading up to Jade’s part being revealed.
It seems like people have finally started to notice some change with Luke’s personality (what? only just now?) but Anise and Jade are both still weary of him. Maybe not so much Jade as he loves to stab people with is witty sarcasm but it is clear that Anise still doesn’t like him. But luckily for Luke his consistant good record up til now has earned the help of Ion and they quickly let that subject drop.
Anise is an easy going girl as long as the guy has money.
So it turns out that Jade’s old childhood friend is actually the emperor around these parts. His name is Peony (not to be mistaken with phony, which was what I thought at first glance). It also turns out that the beautiful lady we saw from the preview wasn’t his potential lover but actually his dear sister.
Then we get into the real meat of the story (rather slowly) as Nephry tells Luke that Jade was rather different in the past than he is now. Sure enough though the flashback to the past showed a more “deprived” Jade than what I expected. I guess it goes to show that being a genius at such a young age isn’t all good. His sister told Luke how he was able to replicate her broken doll even at such a young age which made me feel that he was just too bright for his own good. And as her sister explains, his personality wasn’t all that great either as he doesn’t know the importance of life. I guess at the point where you can replicate things, you begin to forget that some things aren’t as easily replaceable.
Even though Jade was able to master the fonic artes, the seventh one has always been out of his reach. Though he did have a sensei who wielded the power and from what Nephry said it seems like Nebilim became a great influence for Jade as she slowly tries to change him through her teachings. But Jade was too hell bent on learning everything and ended up killing Nebilim instead. He even went to such lengths as to try and revive her with fomicry but ended up killing her instead.
Back then he was “friends” with Dist and they both agreed to use their powers to revive Nebilim. I just get a feeling that whilst Jade has given up on this task, Dist is still trying to keep his end of the promise. Sadly I don’t see this having a good end at all as Jade may just end up killing Dist. But as Jade begin to lose his mind in the past trying to create the perfect replica it was Peony who saved him from eventually killing himself.
And so the episode ends with the gang leaving for the next location after repairs on tartarus was completed.
Screen caps and “wise guy” comments:
Come to think, it has yet to start snowing where I live
Tche, the tartarus always have problems
Obviously quite an important title he has there
Natalia is slow
Whereas Jade’s sense of humor never ceases to amaze me
Ye, ye we know you are easy
Phoney? Oh lol
It sounds like someone I know (glares sideways at Luke)…hopefully he doesn’t have the same personality as Luke did
*Shocku*
So not even his sister had any faith in him huh…
Don’t be saying that so easily Guy XD
See what I mean? XD
In other words, Dist was his lap dog
But it seems like Dist isn’t as mad as I thought
;______;
EEK, it’s a clone! Take it away!
Yea…maybe Jade wasn’t that far off from what I expected in the first place
His sensei…and his only love…(what?)
Oh snap…
With great power comes great responsibilities, you know that?
Sadly it is another tragic case
Seems like Jade did more than dropping some chemicals into a flask
Makes me wonder how the other two weren’t injured at all…she probably protected them
An oath, a promise
King phoney seems to treasure Jade a lot as a friend
And I am sure he is thanking you for listening to his story
Golden pika? Is that you?
Well wouldn’t say Natalia is that slow. This has to be a day or two after the rescue and she really hasn’t interacted with Luke that much since then.
“So not even his sister had any faith in him huh…”- Haha yeah that’s what I was thinking at the moment. But from what she says later its not a surprise she didn’t have the same faith. Actually telling Luke all that because she thought Jade would do something terrible again. Clearly a major divide in that family since she doesn’t seem to have a grasp on her brothers current state. Only Peony had any faith in Jade surviving a huge disaster. Whether it be because of the reason Anise put out there or Guy’s reasoning :).
Yeah surprisingly Dist isn’t that bad a guy. Though reflects how few friends the guy has. The fact that Anise went up and talked to him meant enough that he went ahead and helped her out. But yeah Dist definitely wasn’t the cool guy when he was younger…
Have to say though that was one heck of an explosion Jade caused. It may have failed as a Fonic Arte but damn that thing did some damage. Probably the Professor protected him and Dist from the explosion.
Makes me wonder if they’ll animate the Dance!Gaiden chapter…*cough* Actually, I’d much rather Ion Gaiden or Peony Gaiden.
I thuroughly enjoyed this episode — and I can’t wait till Peony’s introduced~ ❤
Thanks designed for sharing such a fastidious
