and that isn’t one of them…
Whow and am I ever late to write about this episode…or even watch it for that fact. But now that my stomach is full from that christmas dinner and most distractions have finally left I can start concentrating on getting caught up with back logged entries. First up it’s Tales and boy oh boy is the world ever a mess here. Seems like Mohs have managed to get his way with the king after Natalia and Co’s departure but I didn’t expect this…
Thoughts: The king is an idiot and deserves to be shot. How can he deny Natalia in such a way even though she isn’t his own flesh and blood. They say that blood is thicker than water but this is just ridiculous. Even if Natalia wasn’t his real daughter how can a parent just simply throw away all those feelings of up bringing their child. Unless this relationship is just for show and that Natalia was brought up by a bunch of monkeys, I can’t see how the King can so cold bloodedly turn his back on his daughter and ordered for her execution. Unless Mohs has made him his bitch, which I certainly hope so to be the case for such a cold bastard. Family values is overrated eh?
But asides from that bit of unpleasantness which just hit my annoyance bone, I thought that this was a very nice episode to set the group up for the next mini mission they will have to undertake to save the world and be back home in time for tea.
The first part of the episode was basically about Luke and Co’s escape from the falling St Binah lump of land which again hints of Luke’s immaturity as his reaction towards the situation fluctuated from one extreme to the other with the end result of him screaming his head off that he needs to take responsiblility for his past mistake. So there is such a thing as trying too hard.
But moving on the gang and the entire town was saved by one airship that doesn’t even look all that big, though I have to admit that the pilot was quite cute. They then fly over a battle where the inevitable and worst case for our team of peace hunters happens (nice CG on the ships and stuff). The team is forced to split into two groups where Natalia and Luke are sent to persuade the King of Kimlasca and Jade to king Phoney (I know, I know, but that is his nickname for me XD).
I guess the real meat of this episode was the fact that the King have abandoned his pride and joy for Mohs. But before that she and Luke were locked up and asked to take poison. I was surprised that Luke fought back rather than taking the poison and seeing it as repentance.
Even though at first I doubted the words of Natalia’s nanny thinking that it was Mohs pulling the strings from behind, it soon became clear that she was telling the truth with the flashback. So Mohs was telling the truth about Natalia’s physical differences from the bloodline as well but he is still in no doubt an evil being. Largo on the otherhand shot quite a meaningful glare at Natalia…OH SHI~
But when the situation seemed dire, Asch comes and saves Luke’s sorry ass yet again. This is why I won’t be looking forward to Asch’s demise because he is just a tragic character who is actually good at heart. Dist also seems to have other plans other than following Van’s order but we already know what that is (remember back to the vow he made with Jade).
Asch was even considerate enough to make the villagers come to the aid of Natalia. Good on him.
On the otherhand poor Natalia….
Screen caps and “wise guy” comments:
Past technologies? And you wonder why these people are living above ground
Not to mention cute (we just don’t get enough mole moe characters these days and I am no talking about Konata)
Well it is a miracle that you can just sit down and talk about this
Touchdown!
Good, Jade’s head is still in place XD
Sometimes I do wonder why machines like ships and planes are female
That is a new continent
Luke there renewing his resolve to jump off the plane
Jade is such a tsundere
Epic battle CG!
Which reminds me to carry on with playing warhammer
News flash, and then they split up
Oh ho Natalia you missed so much
Yes I think we have heard that for the thousandth time
NOT lies O.o
Seems like a blood bath is inevitable right?
YOU HERETIC OF A POPE!
Okay that is also the truth
Here comes the poison
Surely your father won’t mind whether you are his blood or not, right?
The flashback confirms it
Pretty queen XD
Natalia disowned her father yea
Asch is awesome as usual XD
Even the peasants have more sense than that damned king
And thus the epic escape ends and a new journey begins
“Unless Mohs has made him his bitch, which I certainly hope so to be the case for such a cold bastard.”
You don’t know how accurate that sentence is. Mohs promised that the Kimlasca would be prosperous if he followed the Score and continued to fight against Malkuth, so it’s not too hard to see the king become Mohs’ bitch. But honestly, everyone seems to hate the King, but even if I did think he was such a jerk, there is nothing that could overcome my seething rage for Mohs. If I said everything that I could about how much I hate Mohs, it would take up to 20 posts filled with certain four letter words and say something like “I’d rather watch 100 episodes of long haired Luke bitching about him being the friggin’ ambassador than see another second of that douche.” It makes sense that people think that Natalia’s now adoptive father is a complete retard, but I’ve ignored simply because of Mohs.
Not a surprise that Sunrise made the Kimlasca-Malkuth war better looking. I mean, just look at the infantry in this clip from the game:
As for Luke not taking the poison, it’s more understandable in my opinion. Sure, he’s really reckless and trying to hard to repent, but at least at this point, he knows that dying now would be useless. If he takes the poison, he’s essentially taking Natalia with him since her only options are to take the poison or to be killed by the guards since she is without a weapon, and that wouldn’t be repenting at all.
But going back to people making other people their bitch, here’s a scene starring Anise and Luke:
Kind of funny how we have identical thoughts about the King. Seriously the guy deserves to be shot for his actions. It doesn’t matter if the information is true or not. All those years and bonds you’ve made have to mean more than that. But the guy doesn’t even have the guts to face his daughter instead sending poison so she can kill herself. This guy has a lot of work to do to make up for his actions in this episode.
I hate Mohs as well. That guy clearly has been pushing for war to happen and manipulating whoever he can. Besides he had no trouble pushing for Natalia’s execution so this guy really has no morals. I just put this guy with lower expectations as a human being than the King. Thus when the King messed up badly he gets more rage from me than Mohs right now.
Go peasants! Those people know what’s really important. She helped them keep their jobs….I mean she’s a great person :). But really don’t think it took much to get the mob fighting to protect her. Asch is a smart guy and shows that he cares. Creating a divide between Dist and Largo which should help him escape. But also with making sure the others would get away after leaving the castle.
