Theory Of A Live Girl (Code Geass Spoilers Inside)

This is in relation to a Code Geass spoiler in the TV guide so if you do not want to read any further then don’t.  For now I am just going to type a few things so that the animeblogger antenna doesn’t record the spoilers I’m going to mention anyway.  So how’s the weather where everyone else is living.  Here it’s really hot and to add insult to injury my air conditioning isn’t working.  That’s pretty lame.  The moisture is also up there as well.  At least it’s stopped raining all the time.  Okay that should be enough.

So as some people may already know, one of the TV Guides listing Code Geass R2 Episode 23 mentions that Nunally who was thought to be dead is now alive and revealed to be “allied” with Schneizel “against” Lelouch.  This caused a massive shitstorm from noted Internet Commentator Les Whinin as all developments do now with R2 and people started once again claiming “Oh….Oh no oh dear this doesn’t make sense, there’s no way she could have survived, oh my poor brain is fried”, “Lol this is Sunrise. lolololol”, “Look everybody, this screenshot says that Fleija transferred them to another space.  That’s lololololol!”, “Hahahaha! Lol that’s so stupid, why did they do this! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!” and so on.  Well I think Internet Commentator Les Whinin oughta do a little More Thinkin and a little Les Whinin.  You see, I already had a theory long before this on how she could reasonably be alive.  So for the people that give a damn about actual working theory versus engaging in lolfests (and I’m sure you do exist), here it is again for your convenience.

Klashikari mentioned that there was something odd about the whole ship set-up with Rohmeyer and Nunally when he watched it, and from looking at the scenes again (and again), I think she (or rather Schneizel) pulled a decoy maneuver and Nunally’s ship was actually just outside the area of the explosion.  Here’s why:

Make Haste To Follow The Ninja!

– Sayoko’s team had gone in ahead of Rolo’s by the 3:58 time count and he was planning to rendevouz with Sayoko after finding Nunally

The Chipmunk On A Wheel Will Not Last The Night!  And Brother Shall Be Mine Forever More!  AHAHAHA!

-By the 7:00 time count Rolo had still not located Nunally

Because You Can’t….Oh Wait…Off Colour

Well Do It Anyway?

Hmmmm…So If Schneizel Was Supervising Nunally’s Evacuation, And Now She’s Supposed To Have Resurfaced Under His Protection By Episode 23….Don’t You Folks Call That “JUST AS PLANNED” Or Something?

-At the 7:30 mark Rohmeyer is having Nunally forcibly evacuated

Actually Not Quite, She’s Being Loaded Onto It As We’ll See In A Second

No Escape Until They Have Power…..Makes Sense

Knigtmare’s Also Make A Good Target For Would Be Assassin’s To Hijack And Kill Little Governor’s…..And What’s That…..What’s That Behind The Ship Nunally Is Getting On?  Why It’s Another Vessel Of The Same Class As Nunally’s Escape Vessel.  So If Rohmeyer Is Staying Behind…..For Now And Shows Up On A Ship Later…..Hmmmmm

– When Rohmeyer is having Nunally loaded on to the ship despite her protests she mentions something about sending Nunally on ahead of her as per an order by Schneizel in one of those general evacuations of high ranking officials.  She also mentions something about a lack of KF escorts so as to not draw any attention to the ship.  We never see Rohmeyer board the ship Nunally’s on and she mentions that as soon as the Gefujion disturbers are taken care of that Nunally’s ship will leave the area.  This happens at 9:30.

You! Get The Hot Loli Of Escape Vessel To DIe!

-At 10:00 Sayoko has released Karen and is moving on to rendevouz with Rolo

POWER UP!

-At 10:30 the distubers are disabled which means Nunally’s ship should be taking off like a rocket

Either Britannia Has The Slowest Emergency Escape Plan For A Dignitary Ever Or Nunally’s Ship Already Left And This Is A Different One

Well There’s Angry Woman, But What About Nunally?

Knightmare Frames?  What Happened To Rohmeyer’s No Knightmare Frames Because It Would Draw To Much Attention?

Wait?  Why Would They Want To Draw Attention To The Ship Now?  ARRRRGH THIS MAKES NO SENSE!  THE ONLY REASON I WATCH THIS SHOW NOW IS BECAUSE…..Actually It’s A Time Honoured Decoy Tactic

– No later then 8 minutes afterward at 18:10 “Nunally’s ship” with Rohmeyer “on it” appears to ”STILL” be in the docking bay as Rolo approaches it, and there also appears to be a complement of KF’s ready to take of to escort it, which Rohmeyer said was not going to happen with Nunally’s ship.  Rohmeyer is also sitting in the right hand seat.  How could Britannia screw things up this bad and appear to take so long?

Just Walked Right Past Rolo Eh?  Where’s Rohmeyer?

– At 19:20 Sayoko barges in on Nunally with a complement of men.  Rohmeyer doesn’t appear to respond to any sort of intrusion if she were there and one has to wonder why Sayoko didn’t rendevouz with Rolo as they should have passed each other on the way to the ship by this point and met up in the hangar.  No recognition that they met up at all.

Rolo: If I Think The Bomb Has Killed The Girl…..Hmmmmmm

– At 20:20 Rolo’s in one of the KF’s for gods sake.  What’s he doing in that.  Ready to shoot at the ship Rohmeyer’s in?  How did he and Sayoko not see each other.  Anyway it’s at this point the kid definitely makes a run for it.

Shouldn’t Rohmeyer Be Sitting On The Right?

– At 20:37 Sayoko is standing beside Nunally.  Rohmeyer still appears to not have responded and…..she isn’t even in the right hand seat…

Why Are I Now In The Seat Here?  When Are I Get To React To Girl And Maid?

Nunally:  Why Am I Not Responding To Rohmeyer?  I Can’t Die, I’m Too Important…..

– At 20:41 Rohmeyer is in the right hand seat, still hasn’t responded to any sort of intrusion and looks toast.

Says Rolo!

– At 21:40 Rolo claims to Lelouch that Nunally is dead.

So what the fuck eh?  How does this make sense when there’s so much contradictions.  I KNOW! IT MUST BE BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD WRITING!  IT MUST, BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN’T MAKE SENSE OF IT AND IT’S JUST A BUNCH OF PLOT HOLES!  Ahem…..well my theory is simple actually.  After Sayoko rescued Karen she went on ahead to find Nunally and to try and Rendevouz with Rolo and found the ship Nunally was on.  Around the same time the Gefujion disturbers were disabled and Nunally’s ship left with Sayoko and her men aboard.  She never passed Rolo because he hadn’t even reached the hangar yet.  Eight minutes later Rohmeyer is on a decoy ship with KF’s to make it look like the governor general is aboard and Rolo walks in to find the ship, assuming reasonably that Nunally is on it he commandeers a KF to try and blow up the ship and kill her.  Meanwhile Sayoko barges in on Nunally in the ship she’s really on and Rohmeyer doesn’t respond at all because she’s actually on the decoy back in the hangar.  Nunally’s ship is probably just outside the area by this point.  When the bomb goes off Rohmeyer is caught in it in her decoy ship and goes up in a ball of flames.  Rolo has run away once he thinks he knows what’s going on with Fleija (whatever it’s called) and somehow made it to safety.  How I’m not sure as that thing had a pretty big blast radius.  So when he reports to Rolo he talks about the ship Rohmeyer is on and really isn’t lying when he says Nunally is dead, because he honestly thinks she is.  In reality I think she’s okay and with Sayoko elsewhere.  Though that elsewhere might be in Schneizel’s clutches.

Well that’s my theory and for now it seems to make sense at least to me unless I missed something.  We’ll see if it gets proven or not in the coming episodes.  Why make it look like Nunally died though?  Well a) character development reasons and b) because.  And not to mention that despite all the clues they had people convinced with a claim on a website.  I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, I trust my own eyes before I trust a website and I always suspected bullshit from the homepage.  That and it kind of insulted my intelligence a little too much.  Considering they can spin it so that it’s from what we believe know as of a particular episode (and it’s not like they ever tried to claim otherwise going by the up to the minute nature of the correlative page on character’s status) I hold that page up to constant skepticism.

So anyway, what do I envision as a resolution for the little blind girl now that she’s alive.  Well simple really.  After it’s all said and done I imagine Jeremiah in one last act of loyalty to her using his Geass Canceller to let her see again.  And the first thing she sees when she opens her eyes?  Her brother, for the first time in 8 years.  Give me that moment Okuchi and I will give you the nod.

I don’t believe Rohmeyer was on the same ship as Nunnaly and Sayoko

  2. 2 AGear2Ax September 5, 2008 at 3:32 am

I don’t think the homepage will tell us a huge spoiler as this. Yeah maybe there’s a plot hole, but we haven’t seen Neither episode 22 nor 23, for sure, we’ll get a good explanation of this. Other options are:
    a) Nunally’s a clon or a cheap piracy copy of Rei Ayanami.
    b) Anti-FLEIA escape craft.
    c) There’s a teleport system incorporated in Nunally’s escape craft.
    d) Schneizel has a power that is the counter-part of geass and use it to save Nunally.

    if nunally is with schneizel..

what happened to sayoko the combat meido?
    and
what will orange-kun do? it’s nunally vs lulu..

but lulu killed marianne so orangekun should be with nunally right?

  4. 4 Soldierofdarkness September 5, 2008 at 4:13 am

The only thing that doesn’t make sense is if Sayoko and her men hijacked the ship then how did it still end up in Schenzeil’s hands? First priority would be to kill the pilot and then fly back to the BK’s after the bomb was fired and so forth.

Unless the ship was damaged by the bomb and crashed. Hence Schenzeil’s team were able to locate it and found Sayoko and her men incapacitated.

That and Nunnally lost her memory :p

  5. 5 Camario September 5, 2008 at 5:04 am

I’m actually wondering if both the shuttle hypothesis and the “space transfer” won’t be used to explain different things after all (how Nunnally / Sayoko survived…and how the others did, if they will even bring them back, which we don’t know yet), but there’s no use in worrying about it right now.

Soldierofdarkness: You could argue that the ship, since it took off first, was already closer to Schneizel’s main force even after Sayoko took control of it. Since Schneizel would probably be co-responsible for the whole decoy thing or at least informed, he must have sent somebody to pick up the shuttle regardless.

Or maybe it did crash, like you’ve said.

All this stuff should be a little clearer, hopefully, if not next episode (Nunnally’s appearance could be the requisite “big surprise” at the very last minute) then by 23 at least. Then I’ll decide what to think about it.

Since it’s something the show has already overused, Nunnally’s losing her memory would make me facepalm, but the spoiler seems to imply that wouldn’t be true, or else how would Nunnally be manipulated effectively against Lelouch…or at least that’s what I hope.

@Anon: Yes this theory sort of hangs on that assumption, but there is good evidence I feel.

@AGear2x: How about that she left 8 or so minutes earlier then we thought she did? Anyway, Jeremiah has the counter power to the Geass.

@Deadguy: What happened to Sayoko? Prisoner most likely.

@Soldierofdarkness: Well she lost contact with the Black Knights before they allied with Schneizel so she very well might have tried to do that only to head right into the jaws of the enemy so to speak.

@Camario: Nunally is a strong character, and I think she might have a lot of questions to ask her brother. Right now Schneizel does look the good guy over Lelouch’s deceiver and throne usurper and he has all that evidence to use to prove things such as Lelouch killing Euphemia, Shirley, Clovis, and a whole host of other people. It wouldn’t take much for her to make him crack either. Her expressing a loss in faith with him or calling him an evil man would snap him in half metaphorically speaking quicker then anything else that could be thrown at him at this point because of how much he dotes over her. To him even if he claims it otherwise, Nunally comes before everything else in the world and that goes for how she views him.

Everything he’s done up until now will likely come back to haunt him again, especially since he promised never to lie to her. In short, don’t mess with the Nunally, she’ll make you pay for broken promises.

  7. 7 Camario September 5, 2008 at 5:53 am

Nunnally’s definitely going to call Lelouch out on a lot of things, since Schneizel wouldn’t have a problem with giving her only a partial version of story (using parts of the taped conversation between Suzaku and Lelouch?)…but I’d think Lelouch’s initial shock isn’t going to make him surrender or completely lose it. Or that’s what I hope in any case, since the writing staff may see things differently and take into emo land once again.

Nunnally is his biggest personal priority, above all, but back in Turn 6 he realized that she wouldn’t agree with his methods when he attempted to “rescue” her. That already led him to a severe depression. It would still be a big blow, sure, to hear her addressing him directly and questioning everything he’s done and condemning her own brother…but I think what would enrage him the most would be Schneizel’s involvement if he finds out his brother is behind it all, and that could be what motivates him to oppose those forces and rescue Nunnally in spite of anything she says. Sounds a little too smooth on paper, I realize…

  8. 8 Loligoth_Powered September 5, 2008 at 11:47 am

    You’re missing the point

The radius of FLEIA is 5 KM

It wouldn’t matter if there was 2 or 3 or even 10 more decoy planes

If anything sending a decoy plane first actually hurts her chances of survival

  9. 9 Duo Maxwell September 5, 2008 at 2:52 pm

@Loligoth: Who said the decoy plane will go first anyway?

Beside, if Nunnaly did go first, and you said she’s caught in Fleija’s radius, then how the hell did Rolo escape?

  10. 10 AGear2Ax September 5, 2008 at 3:13 pm

@Duo Maxwell: Hey you’re right, I never figured it, the Sutherland Rolo had when the FLEIA was fired was close to one of the ships, then it means that a escape craft was already out when the FLEIA was fired, it makes sense.

Anyway, it was weird that Nunally being a important character “died” without a final speech (Euphemia did one, Shirley and Rollo too). She’ll be at first at enemy to Lelouch because he kill Clovis, EUPHEMIA, Charles and Marianne and lied to her, but she will forgive him like Shirley do.

  11. 11 Francky September 5, 2008 at 3:44 pm

I must agree with you here. I think it’s what really happened ( and not the ridiculous teleportation things)

    But I find one contradiction.

If the power came back at 10:30, and so the ship moved at that time, how do you explain that we see Sayako saying “nunnaly-sama” at 19 min?

But here… another contradiction is coming, if Sayako came at 19min in her ship, why Rollo, who actually has here at that time, didn’t met up with Sayako, and didn’t killed Nunnaly? ( like he was planning to do, not like he can predict Fleya…)

  12. 12 Gideon September 7, 2008 at 10:30 am

    Well guess what…..

To be honest, I was perfectly happy with the idea of Nunally being dead story wise), but at least the writers foreshadowed this one properly! As kaioshin demonstrated by predicting it when the episode in question aired a few weeks ago.

I approve of this plot twist! 😛

  13. 13 Kaioshin Sama September 7, 2008 at 7:18 pm

With Sayoko and Nunally both being shown and nobody else like say Rohmeyer it tends to support the theory that Rohmeyer was on a ship that was caught in the blast and Nunally wasn’t. Sayoko also seems to be bandaged up in one of the episode 22 previews. This sort of makes sense since she was standing. Either that or she tried to shield Nunally from a crash.

  14. 14 AmuroNT1 September 8, 2008 at 6:16 am

You, sir, are a genius. I’m sick and tired of having to deal with people who respond to each and every single plot twist in this show as “OUT OF CHARACTER! BAD WRITING! TRAINWRECK!” The way some of these people act reminds me of how the novels’ author describes Euphemia: “one who watches without seeing, one who hears without listening”.

  15. 15 Kaioshin Sama September 10, 2008 at 6:32 am

@AmuroNT1: Well clearly they all know better then the original creators how the show should be written and the characters should act. I think that’s the problem with anime viewers these days, they don’t seem to realize which side of the equation they are on. As viewers we can’t tell the writers how they should be doing their job, we can only react to what we get. Until we are in a position at least equal to theirs then what we say really doesn’t hold much weight and no amount of repetition of the same 3 criticisms or smart ass comments is going to make a difference. It will just make everyone miserable in the end. Though maybe that’s what they are going for.

….You know I thought I left middle school behind 12 years ago. That’s what this reminds me of, the people we are talking about are either in their 20’s or late teens and yet have a maturity slightly more childish then that of my 9 year old cousin.

  16. 16 waysiong September 10, 2008 at 2:49 pm

Hi there, nice theory and it makes sense that they are in different ships.

Perhaps, Nunnaly has a Geass or something that keeps her alive. 😛 She does have geass in one of the mangas.

  17. 17 Anon September 11, 2008 at 4:19 pm

The theory itself is sound. The only thing that is ABSOLUTELY certain from these screenshots from R2 18 is that there were indeed two planes.
It’s not even clear on whose plane set off first.

The revelation that Nunnally is still alive in R2 22 is a shock for some but expected to many. I believed from the start that the writers played themselves into a position where they could keep her dead or bring her back alive.

Sunrise could have started shaking off that rep of ” if they didn’t die onscreen, they’re still alive” with this.

  18. 18 Kaioshin Sama September 11, 2008 at 6:47 pm

@Anon: Unfortunately people will have to see it first (including me for reassurance) as the majority are absolutely convinced that Nunally was necroed by the writing staff as some sort of joke. I guess it doesn’t help that people still haven’t gotten over the resurrection of Mwu La Fraga which was a total necro and whom we even saw die. Good thing Morosawa isn’t the writer for this show like people seem to think though.

  19. 19 Camario September 14, 2008 at 6:28 pm

It looks like this was right after all.

  20. 20 Kaioshin Sama September 14, 2008 at 8:56 pm

Figuring it out was easy, but now comes the hard part. Do I just sit satisfied in calling yet another one or do I just be a total unmitigated ass about it to all the people who insisted she was teleported away by Fleia or “lol Sunrised” for a length of time equivalent to which they insisted the writers were pulling stuff from their ass while I knew otherwise but awaited confirmation from the show itself. Because right now the urge to put some folks in their place is beyond tempting. Oh…decisions decisions. We’ll see when I blog it. Either way I feel I’ve one the month now.

  21. 21 Anonymous September 15, 2008 at 1:33 pm

Seriously, quit reading anime blogs and stop visting anime forums. The vast majority are all rubbish because literally everyone who posts on them can be considered brain-dead one way or another.

I fail to understand why you keep visiting shitholes like Animesuki. I read the Geass forums and the number of “Perfect 10” votes and rubbish comments fried my brain.

  22. 22 Kaioshin Sama September 15, 2008 at 6:18 pm

@anon: Yeah, but I thought they were saveable in some way. Then I learned that reason no longer has a place in those halls and thus it’s all just a big waste of time. It’s whatever the trend is that runs the day on anime blogs and forums. I seriously don’t even no how much longer I’m going to be doing this. Geass R2 is probably going to be my last series since I’m just sick of the bullshit and feel like I’m wasting my time associating with your average anime fan.

By the way though, why aren’t you taking your own advice? Also why is it the perfect 10 votes that get you all upset? Anyway, I’m taking this week off whatever the case. People can have their trainwreck lulz because I’m pretty much through until sense and reason return to the discussion of this series. It might never happen, but then as I said, who gives a fuck anymore.

  23. 23 Anonymous September 16, 2008 at 2:23 am

That’s why I don’t visit any anime blogs nor visit pieces of shit like Animesuki. Your blog is an exception because even if I have to dig through the rubbish, it’s actually worth something. 4chan is a shithole too, but at least /a/ and /m/ can give me obscure information about pretty good shows such as Dunbine, Ashita no Joe, Victory or Turn A, which literally the whole of AS has no clue about or simply hates for no reason.

You misunderstand me. The perfect 10s doesn’t upset me. It simply tells me how bad the community is over there. Nothing deserves a perfect 10 unless everything it attempted to do was flawless, which is generally not the case with anything Anime related. 50%~ of votes being perfect 10s simply tells you around half of the people who may be discussing the animu in that thread are blinded by fanboyism.
