Moments later the great avalanche happened
Trust Jade to do something so extreme as to set off an avalanche facing an enemy attack. It just goes to show how much faith he has in his party but somehow Luke still manages to miss the protection bubble by Tear, strangely enough his insane luck level was enough to keep him alive whilst the God generals are assumed to be dead…like as if that will ever happen to them because of something so minor…*laughs*
Thoughts: And I should start off by questioning Jade’s intelligence based on the outcome of this episode. It seems like the group has fallen to an oldest trick in the book set up by Van by activating the passage right at the absorption gate through some cunning use of reverse psychology, probably with Van turning up and urging Tear to “stop this madness” had the opposite effect of making them activate the gate faster which means falling right into his plans [insert “just as planned” face]. Though while it is normal for everyone in the party to be tricked so easily, thinking that the same happened to Jade aswell was rather disappointing especially since he should by so much more analytical than what he has been. I doubt that he is in this with Van but with no other reason than a stupid miss on his part I am rather sad that it happened so easily. Yet he analyzed the situation fast enough…almost too fast *rolleyes* This may be either save time or he does have a hidden agenda, chances are being the former to speed up the process of the story (in an underwhelming sort of way).
So leading up to the ending of the episode we had a lot more talk and travel though owing a lot to the short fight scene to keep some of the action up (gosh I wish there are more long lasting fight scenes). Spinoza coming to the gang to apologise and offering help, ha! In normal cases it would be too late to apologise now and I would have just shot him on the spot but with Luke being the “understanding” kind of person that he has become will not have anything of it…sheesh, it seems like the guy will accept the apology of ANYONE. This aspect of his character doesn’t indicate much growth for me personally, in fact it rather shows that Luke is still haunted by the past and thus is just follow a life which no doubt to anything that apologies despite whether the person who apologises hold any hidden intent or not. This makes Luke see very shallow to me and while it may not be the case for Guy or Spinoza, I wish that he gets his trust betrayed just once as to wipe that naive smirk off his face.
On the otherhand, I feel sorry for Anise whose feelings are connecting with anyone. Poor girl.
Moving on, Luke has his little scene with Tear and somehow manages to push all the right buttons for her. But all I see still an idiot who is just lucky with his consideration, even if he does want to save everyone including Tear but knows the opinions of his other fellow members. Though it just pains me as well to see Tear slowly poisoning herself to activate the passage rings…but I have to wonder if this is the extent of her character development?
Well she does have a talk with Van but there was nothing new to be learnt here.
The interesting part of this scene came about when Asch appeared from nowhere and attacked Van who easily slashes him back…but where is the blood? Van trying to convince Asch that the world has nothing going for it anymore it was interesting for Asch to hint that he may have someone important he wants to protect and so will not go ahead with Van’s plans to kill and replicate everything. Natalia should be happy if only Asch will drop his TsunTsun attitude towards her.
A comical scene between Jade and Dist (SHINUUUUUUUU!) brought about some much needed laughs but that soon followed with the second fight scene of the episode with the God generals appearing at the north pole absorption gate looking to put an end to our party’s advance once and for all. Like I said before, short fight scene is too short ending with an artificial avalanche from Jade.
This then loops to the start of this entry so I will just stop here
Screen caps and comments:
Oh you? Coming back to be executed?
Anise is right for once
So Luke can just shut it with his “sheep following”. I doubt that he knows what “believing in someone” actually means other than the words themselves
So use him then execute? gotcha 😉
Tear suffering in silence ;_____;
And even if Luke doesn’t have a clue I still agree with those words
But don’t try too hard to make her depressed you idiot
I’ll be taking over to hug her now
;_______;
“Baka…”
Gambareee Tearrr!
Great news for the world
Guy revealing what may be the reason why Van can predict the future

Classic display of reverse psychology here

Dist, it has been a while…still a child I see

I don’t want to say this but everytime the God generals show up I have a feeling to say “fail generals”
Brawl is on!
Why the quotes? I think he knows something we don’t
You miss fired
Actually, perfect shot XD
Head count…6…right we aren’t missing anyone lets go!
You think?
Cliffhanging suspense
(Hiya~ Same miken-chan, just a new login!)
Jade’s logic this episode is driven by plot and time constraints…but the avalanche in the game was actually caused after the battle thanks to the commotion, so I can’t blame him there. Of course, in the game, the entire party survived due to awesome luck stats while the God Generals supposedly just fell off a cliff and went splat.
Jade’s grin was awesome~ Still, I won’t like the whole fan shipping wave coming after this. I never understood the Jade x Dist pairing either…despite finding it humorous. DDDX
Unfortunately, they have to link all the working Sephiroth to the Absorption/Radiation gates to lower the land safely. Either way, both sides need to meet at at least one of the gates to reach their objectives.
It seems that they replaced the revisit to Ortion Cavern with a few similar scenes here. Namely Asch’s wounding and Van’s request of Tear. However, I could’ve sworn that Tear knew she was descended from Yulia since the beginning of the game.
That bit of dragging Dist off was hilarious. Dist really is an idiot who should’ve run the moment he saw Jade. Of course it saves Dist from the avalanche, but probably put him into intensive care :).
Found it pretty fun when Asch charged onto the scene to attack Van. Finally someone taking the intelligent approach to this. Instead of standing around and letting him talk just kill the man. Save a whole lot of trouble by just finishing the guy off while he doesn’t have any God Generals to protect him. Kind of funny Van expected Asch to be on his side. Sure can see hating the world that would have let him die at Akzeriuth, but Van is the one who ripped him from his life. So hardly any reason to thank the guy.
With Anise it’s a love/hate thing. Personally agree that the whole forgive Spinoza thing is stupid. Though for Luke if there are unforgivable things that means he’ll always be on the hook for what he’s done. Agree with Jade that they might as well use him. Can always deal with him later or if possible Van will do that for them. At the same time Anise’s attitude toward Arietta has always made things worse. Sure she’s likely still upset about her mother but that should make her more understanding about what is driving Arietta. Instead she just insults her and doesn’t reveal that Ion isn’t the same Ion she knew. Van is just using Arietta’s feelings to manipulate her.
