White Album episode 8 ~ “Time, accomplishments and Love are all connected by a force”

Wow, the title for this week has gotten deeper yet again and I’m having difficulties trying to think of something to say about it myself. The title certainly tries to link up time with the development of relationships and for Touya, time is certainly running out. Asides from the time running out to help Misaki creating those play props (though he later conveniently forgets about the whole business and preoccupies himself with something else *coughs*; leaving poor Misaki to fend for herself), time is also running out for him to patch things up with Yuki since by now he understands how much he would be holding back Yuki if continues this relationship, or rather, Eiji doesn’t give him much of a choice to think otherwise.

Man, what a let down this arc was.  Here we has what looked like an arc that was going to be the first good one since Lira got reintroduced into the story, but they managed to cheapen it during the last few minutes such that what should have been awesome and very good instead becomes mildly retarded and merely decent.  I’ll tell the story of what happened now.

Actually, I just feel like it tonight for whatever reason after chilling to some Gundam music and thinking about new ways in which to share it with the rest of the internet.  I’ve already gone over a top 10 openings and endings list that was slanted heavily towards Gundam music, and I’ve already done a Top 10 OST’s post that was chock-full of Gundam music, but I haven’t done a post about Gundam Image songs, of which not all series feature them, but of which those that do have them, do the concept justice.  That ends now, and I bring you my favourite amongst them.

Apologies for being late but as you know, the subs were slow this week and I didn’t have anytime outside of a busy schedule to get working with just the raw although it could have easily been done considering the content for this episode; for once there was less talk (or at least more interesting talk) and a fight that lasted for more than 30 seconds. Not surprisingly I can say that this is easily my favorite episode to date.

White Album episode 7 ~ “The image that needs to be kept strong”

And I am sure that this week’s title also means a lot for this episode although this time round it is less obvious. Not surprisingly I ended up asking myself just what it being meant by the image being built up and have come to the conclusion that it is relating to Touya in a few ways. Yet the one I feel most strongly on is the literal sense of his own “personal image” being built upon as we have in this episode, his damn lies again to someone who is easily smarter than he is. I think it rather outlines his imperfectness as a human being which isn’t anything to stress about, it just brings along a heap load of sweet drama later on.

Because I’m feeling lazy and don’t much want to come up with an entirely new article yet I felt it would be fun to re-explore an old one of mine instead.  The year was the far out retro and old school 2008, it was a lazy October and a certain show named Sora Wo Kakeru Shoujo had just been announced.  I didn’t know what to make of it, I still don’t know what to make of it, but even with an imagination as wild as mine I would have never imagined what I got when I first started to take a serious (aha aha haha) closer look at it.  It turned out to be to Sunrise mecha series what Slayers is to the Fantasy genre and it doesn’t believe that anything is sacred either.  I had asked for more Gaogaigar….and this is what they gave me:

Fortune Arterial – a luxorious school, student council and … vampires.

A high class highschool on a remote island, fated reunions, new encounters and a touch of vampire mystery. I guess that about sums up the basic premise of Fortune Arterial in one sentence. Obviously sounds like the usual formula we have seen done to death a dozen times, but, what do you know – this one is done right. Having heard plenty of good references about the title i decided to finally sit down and give it a go myself, and the end result is a very pleasant surprise. I am not one to easily hand out praise, but when the credits of the True End started to roll, i was willing to stand up and applaud the writers for a rather exemplary piece of writing. The way all the individual story paths came together in the end, the way all the details fell in to place and the fact they actually explored aspects that are usually taken for granted in vampire stories, such as bloodlust and reasons behind it, as well as other relevant aspects, and the very origins of said vampires – things i had long since given up on in vampire stories, makes Fortune Arterial one of (if not THE) my favorite pieces of vampire fictions up to date.

WonderFest09 Alter Fate chan ~ Shin beauty

So being a figure collecting ‘otaku’ myself it isn’t surprising for beauties from WonderFest to catch my eye everytime those pesky, money sucking companies produce new ones. But this time Alter have out done themselves yet again by making this work of epic art, and with Fate chan being one of mai waifus (the other obviously being Gin sama; how come she doesn’t have as many figures as Fate chan ;____; ) I can just hear my wallet screaming death when trying to get both this and Volks’ work of art especially with this economic crisis going on and the forever weakening of the pound sterling. Converting to Yens has never been so expensive D:
