Yozakura Quartet episode 6 ~ Unlimited Machine Gun Works!

No joke ^^’

I had figured that it might be the case but Enjin’s appearance in front of Ao was really as anticlimatic as I had feared it to be…

Thoughts: Even though having Ao fight her own brother at such a time and place would be quite weird, they should have at least allowed Enjin to say something to her to make her shat bricks. But despite this it was interesting to find out that Ao never knew where went…or rather it is hinted that she had thought that her brother was dead all along. So what is this secret about Gin being controlled by Enjin? Are only selected people allowed to know the truth whereas everyone else is left in the dark. I suspect that Ao and Kotoha joined Hime and Akina after Gin left them…

For the rest of the episode though, Kotoha took the spotlight and we begin to go into her past digging up some interesting facts of what seems like quite a disturbing and tearful childhood. But I have to say that the way the story was being presented could have been done a lot better.

Starting with some lighter stuff we see that Kotoha is some Germany maniac for some reason. Don’t ask me why she loves the country so much as I have no idea why but it is obvious that she wants to go around there on a holiday and that chance came when she somehow acquired a ticket. Though she also showed off an unusually scary “berserk” side to her personality when Hime accidentally destroyed that ticket. No sympathy for Hime though seen as it was her fault for being such a selfish “oujo sama”.

But I did wonder why can’t Kotoha just summon herself another ticket…

Nevermind, after trying to blast Hime to kingdom come Akina revealed another interesting (or should I say confusing?) fact about Kotoha’s past. What is being implied is that she never used to have Youkai powers and they just somehow developed after she “got influenced”, whatever that means…

Up until now I thought that Kotoha was the offspring of a youkai and a human so this theory of being able to “turn youkai” is definitely confusing to accept.

Meanwhile, Enjin is having trouble surpressing Gin within subconcious so he ordered to be left alone and that Shinozuka is free to do whatever he wants which means that he can burn the whole town down if he so pleases. But he has his eyes set on Kotoha instead for some reason…some reason which I think isn’t just as simple as saying that they are “alike”.

Kotoha falls into his trap because he kidnaps her friends and soon finds out that she is no match for him even when using gates of machine guns…or axes. Shinozuka continues to mind rape Kotoha into submission but luckily she is saved by Hime and the others before her brain turns completely into mush.

The fight scene was quite boring and repetitive with Shinozuka flash stepping through everything. Though I am glad that they way the fight ended was hilarious…with Hime deflecting a tank bullet right at him (muhahahah~).

And so another exciting episode of yozakura Quartet ends with Kotoha losing her voice from going “DADADADADADADADADA~” too much. Yare yare.

Kotoha is a Germanophile with a strong emphasis on German military weaponry. If you remember in episode 1, she was cutting out pieces of a tank model that she built on company time. (Akina is a really tolerant employer when it comes to his employees goofing off on company time. LOL)

I may be mixing manga memories with anime memories, but there’s a flashback scene between Gin and Ao where Gin tells Ao he’s leaving the city. (The anime left out a flashback scene where Gin tells Akina to watch over Ao while he’s gone. I was sad. I wanted to see that scene which should have taken place after Ao and Akina’s discussion in the playground about Ao’s mind-reading ability.)

I don’t know for sure, but I suspect Gin left the city willingly to search for something. Maybe he went looking for intel on Enjin and the others who were trying to break through the barrier. I suspect it was while he was outside the city’s protective barrier that Enjin possessed his body. Gin’s friends and family probably didn’t know when Gin expected to return. Ao may assume Gin is dead since no one has heard from him in 2 years time. It wasn’t until Akina saw Gin in episode 4 (??) that he knew about Gin’s possession and had any inkling as to what had happened to his friend.

I like the tsun tsun dere tsun song. I think it’s funny that Akina can’t sing it in the least.

That song really should be banished to oblivion. I mean honestly stop bothering the poor town with it.

At least from the preview seems there will be consequences from Akina’s constant silence. I mean Ao saw Gin so you might as well tell her what’s going on. Instead she’s wondering if what she saw was real and why Akina wants her to keep quiet about it.

God speed guy was a bit of a pain. I mean it was all him dodging everything. Though did get to see a good chunk of Kotoha’s firepower. Most would have been done by the grenades.

Sucks about the ticket getting destroyed. Honestly any money Hime has available should be going to a replacement. Be nice as well to know how exactly a human gets changed. Obviously its not just proximity to a youkai and something else is involved.
